On September 30, 2026, an international event dedicated to European Languages Day was held at the Uzbek State University of World Languages (UzGUMYA). The Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan and the British Council participated in the event.

The event brought together representatives from various diplomatic missions of European states, international organizations, cultural centers, as well as the university's faculty and students.

The opening ceremony featured speeches by the Rector of the Uzbek State University of World Languages, Ilhomjon Tukhtasinov, and the Head of the EU Delegation in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Toyvo Klaar. Guests and participants were shown a video presentation highlighting the university's educational programs and international ties. Following the official opening, a joint photo session took place.

The program continued with thematic presentations focused on the languages and cultures of the European Union countries. Representatives from diplomatic missions, cultural centers, and international organizations shared information about language specifics, everyday phrases, national traditions, and available educational opportunities.

An exhibition titled 'Fair of Languages and Cultures' was organized in the university foyer, featuring informational and display materials about European countries concerning their culture and educational institutions.

Mariza, a teacher at the French Alliance, shared her opinion on the high level of interest in the French language in Uzbekistan, despite teaching it for four years. According to her, both students and adults actively study French and successfully pass international exams.

The teacher emphasized that the great need for language learning in Uzbekistan brings her joy in working at the French Alliance. Mariza is fluent in four languages: French, English, Russian, and Uzbek, noting that knowing several languages significantly facilitates daily communication.

She also shared tips for effectively mastering a foreign language, naming three key conditions: having a clear goal (whether for study, work, or emigration), setting realistic deadlines, and maintaining regularity in classes.

First-year student Zarnigor Khamrakulova of UzGUMYA expressed gratitude for participating in the event, noting that it helped her better understand that language is not only a means of communication but also a tool that unites people and reflects culture.

Overall, the event contributed to strengthening the university's international relations, promoting the idea of multilingualism, and developing intercultural dialogue, giving students a chance to interact with representatives from European countries and learn about international initiatives.
