Date and Time of Ajja Ekadashi 2026: Clarification of Dates and Auspicious Muhurta
Ajja Ekadashi is observed on the Ekadashi day of the Bhadrapada lunar month. On this day, worship of Lord Vishnu is especially revered. It is believed that observing the Ajja Ekadashi fast can fulfill all human desires. However, there is currently some confusion regarding the date of this fast, as some sources indicate September 6th, while others state September 7th. According to religious beliefs, the Ajja Ekadashi fast helps rid one of sinful deeds. It is said that worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day brings happiness and prosperity into life. It is also considered auspicious to chant hymns from Vishnu mantras. Special importance is given to worshipping Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Vishnu. Devotees can perform their rituals according to their faith and family traditions. According to the Hindu Panchang, the date of Ajja Ekadashi will begin on the evening of September 6th at 19:29 and end on the evening of September 7th at 17:03. Based on the ascending date, the Ajja Ekadashi fast will be observed on September 7th. On this day, in addition to worshipping Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi is also worshipped. According to religious beliefs, observing the fast and performing rituals leads to freedom from sins and attainment of well-being. The completion of the Ekadashi fast occurs on Dwadashi. The Ajja Ekadashi fast will conclude on Tuesday, September 8th. The time for completing the fast is set from 06:02 to 08:33 AM. On the day of Ajja Ekadashi, one should wake up before sunrise, take a bath, and then wear clean clothes. It is necessary to offer tribute to the Sun and take an oath of fasting while meditating on Lord Vishnu. After this, an altar is set up at the place of worship, on which a statue of Vishnu is placed. Yellow flowers, yellow clothing, sandalwood, akshat, tulsi leaves, fruits, and offerings are presented to the deity. A lamp is lit during the worship. Proper worship of Lord Vishnu should be performed, after which the Vishnu Sahasranama is recited, and everything concludes with Arati to Lord Vishnu.
