Centrum Air launches direct flights between Hyderabad and Tashkent

Centrum Air, an airline based in Uzbekistan, has started operating direct flights between Hyderabad and Tashkent. The first flight on this route departed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

According to data from GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), this new route represents the first direct air connection between South India and Central Asia. The launch was marked by a special ceremony at the airport, attended by representatives of GHIAL, Centrum Air, and other stakeholders.

Flights between Hyderabad and Tashkent will operate twice a week. This new route will provide passengers from Hyderabad and other cities in South India with direct access to Uzbekistan.

GHIAL predicts that this direction will contribute to the development of business, trade, and cultural ties between India and Uzbekistan, as well as increase Tashkent's accessibility as a regional aviation hub.

Qadir Kadiravan, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, emphasized the growing importance of direct international connections between Hyderabad and emerging markets, as the city strengthens its position as a center for technology, business, and innovation. He also noted Hyderabad's role as one of India's leading medical tourism destinations, attracting foreign patients for specialized treatment.

"The launch of the Hyderabad-Tashkent route is another step in expanding South India's international air connectivity and establishing a direct link with Central Asia," stated Kadiravan.

According to him, the new route will open up additional opportunities for business travel, tourism, education, and cultural exchange between India and Uzbekistan.

Abhishek Goyal, Executive Director and CEO of Aeroprime Group, characterized the launch as an important milestone in expanding Centrum Air's Indian network. He added that following the launch of flights to Delhi, Hyderabad became a promising addition to the airline's network due to its potential for business and tourist travel.

With the addition of the Tashkent route, Hyderabad Airport's network expanded to 27 international and 74 domestic destinations. The airport expects that the new service will strengthen its role as a gateway from South India to Central Asian markets, including the technology and healthcare sectors, while creating new opportunities for transit flights in the region.

This launch is part of Hyderabad Airport's strategy to expand its international route network and is expected to improve air connectivity between Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries for business and leisure travelers.

SunExpress launches direct flights from Tashkent to Izmir

The airline SunExpress has started operating direct air flights between Tashkent and Izmir. Passengers can now travel between these cities without the need for transfers; the flight duration is approximately 5 hours and 35 minutes. This information was presented during the launch of the new route in Tashkent.

Starting September 22, the airline operates three flights per week: on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Transport is provided on Boeing 737 aircraft. The minimum one-way ticket price starts from 1.8 million soums, and round-trip tickets start from 3 million soums. The specified fare includes 20 kg of baggage and 8 kg of hand luggage.

New Air Connection Between Uzbekistan and Turkey

The creation of a direct air link is intended to facilitate travel for both tourists and business travelers between the two countries. There is also growing interest in this route among vacationers. According to the Ministry of Tourism, about 17 thousand tourists arrived in Uzbekistan from Turkey at the beginning of this year, which is a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.

A representative of SunExpress, Maximilian Gorsky, congratulated Uzbekistan on Independence Day. He expressed gratitude to tourism agencies and APG partners for their joint work. Furthermore, Gorsky emphasized the significance of launching the Tashkent—Izmir route specifically during this period. Previously, SunExpress focused on air connections between Germany and Turkey, but over time, the company expanded its flight geography. Three years ago, the carrier began flying between Izmir and Samarkand, and now a direct connection with Tashkent has been added.

Conditions Included in the Ticket Price

Currently, check-in at Tashkent and Samarkand airports is free, while a fee is charged for check-in in Izmir. It is planned that paid check-in will be introduced in Tashkent starting at the beginning of the new year. Seat selection can be made free of charge during online check-in, but changing a booking will require payment. Meals are not included in the basic ticket price, and passengers can purchase them additionally. Hot meals are primarily prepared in Izmir, so a different service format is applied to flights departing from Tashkent.

Animal Transportation and Additional Passenger Services

Up to four animals are allowed on each flight. The transportation cost is calculated based on the pet's weight, breed, and size, with an average price starting from 80 euros. For travelers with babies, a crib service is available, which must be reserved in advance through the airline's support service or an agency. In addition, SunExpress offers services for golf enthusiasts: a free golf set is provided, and a transfer to the golf club and booking of a playing spot are organized, which allows for free play.

The airline is also studying the possibility of opening new routes to the Fergana Valley airports, which is planned to begin early next year.

Tashkent begins preparations for the construction of a new international airport

Preparatory work has begun at the construction site of the new international airport in Tashkent. This facility was initially designed to serve up to 20 million passengers annually. This project is part of Uzbekistan's program to develop transport and logistics infrastructure until 2030.

Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation dedicated to the implementation of major projects in the field of transport and logistics. The authorities emphasize the need for continuous development of transport infrastructure against the backdrop of economic growth, increased industrial production, and expanded foreign trade.

One of the main objectives is to transform Uzbekistan into a key land transport hub between Europe and the Pacific Ocean. It is planned that by 2030, the volume of the transport market will double, attracting investments of $9.1 billion, and the export of logistics services will grow to $5.7 billion.

As part of the development of aviation infrastructure in Tashkent and Bukhara, new airport complexes are being built with a total cost of about $3 billion. Agreements on public-private partnerships have already been signed for the new international airport project in Tashkent, and work is currently underway to prepare the construction site and relocate utility networks.

In Bukhara, airfield infrastructure is being developed for the new airport, while an international tender is simultaneously being conducted to attract a private partner for the construction and operation of the passenger terminal. The modernization of airports in Urgench and Namangan is also being considered in the format of public-private partnership, and in Andijan, the authorities plan to attract a private operator.

The implementation of these projects is intended to increase the capacity of the airports and expand passenger service capabilities in accordance with international standards. Special attention was paid to road construction: the construction of the Tashkent-Samarkand toll road began in July, and the country's first toll road, Urgench-Khiva, was commissioned in August.

Participants in the discussions also reviewed issues of financing further work on the Tashkent-Samarkand highway and determining investors for the construction of the Tashkent-Bostanlyk and Tashkent-Andijan toll roads.
