The airline SunExpress has started operating direct air flights between Tashkent and Izmir. Passengers can now travel between these cities without the need for transfers; the flight duration is approximately 5 hours and 35 minutes. This information was presented during the launch of the new route in Tashkent.
Starting September 22, the airline operates three flights per week: on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Transport is provided on Boeing 737 aircraft. The minimum one-way ticket price starts from 1.8 million soums, and round-trip tickets start from 3 million soums. The specified fare includes 20 kg of baggage and 8 kg of hand luggage.
New Air Connection Between Uzbekistan and Turkey
The creation of a direct air link is intended to facilitate travel for both tourists and business travelers between the two countries. There is also growing interest in this route among vacationers. According to the Ministry of Tourism, about 17 thousand tourists arrived in Uzbekistan from Turkey at the beginning of this year, which is a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.
A representative of SunExpress, Maximilian Gorsky, congratulated Uzbekistan on Independence Day. He expressed gratitude to tourism agencies and APG partners for their joint work. Furthermore, Gorsky emphasized the significance of launching the Tashkent—Izmir route specifically during this period. Previously, SunExpress focused on air connections between Germany and Turkey, but over time, the company expanded its flight geography. Three years ago, the carrier began flying between Izmir and Samarkand, and now a direct connection with Tashkent has been added.
Conditions Included in the Ticket Price
Currently, check-in at Tashkent and Samarkand airports is free, while a fee is charged for check-in in Izmir. It is planned that paid check-in will be introduced in Tashkent starting at the beginning of the new year. Seat selection can be made free of charge during online check-in, but changing a booking will require payment. Meals are not included in the basic ticket price, and passengers can purchase them additionally. Hot meals are primarily prepared in Izmir, so a different service format is applied to flights departing from Tashkent.
Animal Transportation and Additional Passenger Services
Up to four animals are allowed on each flight. The transportation cost is calculated based on the pet's weight, breed, and size, with an average price starting from 80 euros. For travelers with babies, a crib service is available, which must be reserved in advance through the airline's support service or an agency. In addition, SunExpress offers services for golf enthusiasts: a free golf set is provided, and a transfer to the golf club and booking of a playing spot are organized, which allows for free play.
The airline is also studying the possibility of opening new routes to the Fergana Valley airports, which is planned to begin early next year.
