Starting January 1, 2027, doctors working in the Bozatau and Takhtakupyr districts of Karakalpakstan will receive additional bonuses to their salaries of up to 200%.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this during a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan. According to him, the increase in payments is intended to serve as an additional incentive for medical workers wishing to work in remote parts of the region.
In parallel, work is underway in Karakalpakstan to expand access to complex medical services. The central hospital in Nukus performs liver and kidney transplant operations, while the Ariaral Children's Hospital provides 150 different types of high-tech care.
At the beginning of this year alone, 1,500 complex surgical interventions were performed in the region, including procedures on the heart and brain, as well as in plastic surgery. Furthermore, a medical insurance system has been introduced in Karakalpakstan, and medical institutions have received new equipment worth 10 million dollars.
A medical scientific academy has been established in the city of Nukus, operating on a public-private partnership basis. This academy is intended to become a methodological center for improving the qualifications and assessing the knowledge of medical personnel.
Future plans include integrating the medical academy, children's clinic, oncology center, and a new multidisciplinary hospital into a single structure called the University Medical Cluster. Previously, the opening of a new medical center in Karakalpakstan was also announced, with a cost of 154 billion soms.
