The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the RomPharm NS pharmaceutical plant located in the Almazar district of Tashkent to familiarize himself with the enterprise's production capabilities and discuss its future plans.
The company specializes in producing medicines for the domestic market and expanding the production of import-substituting products. The planned annual capacity of the plant is expected to reach 1 billion tablets, 500 million capsules, and 120 million packaged doses.
RomPharm NS is one of the first full-cycle integrated production facilities in Central Asia, which has its own quality control laboratory operating according to European Union GMP standards. The project attracted investments of 45 million euros, occupies an area of 1.7 hectares, and has created 150 new jobs. The level of production automation reaches 90%.
Equipment for the plant was supplied from Italy, Germany, Austria, the United States, Switzerland, and Bulgaria. The company's products are intended to replace imported medications, including drugs for neurology and cardiology, agents for regulating metabolic processes, and treatments for inflammatory diseases.
The development of the pharmaceutical sector is carried out in accordance with the presidential decree 'On additional measures to accelerate the development of the pharmaceutical industry' dated January 28, 2025, which provides for increasing production capacities and implementing modern technologies.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev emphasized the need for further increasing production capacity by using advanced technologies and ensuring high quality of medicines in the domestic market. He also highlighted the importance of reducing dependence on imports and creating new jobs in the pharmaceutical industry. Plans for the further development of RomPharm NS were presented to the President.
