Pharmaceutical production in Uzbekistan reached 3.5 trillion soms in seven months

Uzbekistan has significantly increased the output of medicines and other pharmaceutical products. According to statistical data, during the period from January to July 2026, the country's enterprises produced essential pharmaceutical preparations worth 3.5 trillion soms. This figure exceeds the volume recorded for the same period last year by 20.7%.

According to the National Committee on Statistics, the majority of the country's pharmaceutical production over seven months was concentrated in Tashkent. The capital produced goods worth 2.1 trillion soms. Additionally, Syrdarya region produced 529 billion soms worth of products, while Tashkent region produced 286.4 billion soms.

Other regions also made a significant contribution to the total production. In Namangan region, the volume amounted to 214.2 billion soms, and in Samarkand region, it was 143.1 billion soms. Andijan region produced 83.6 billion soms, and Fergana region produced 63.5 billion soms.

The production volume in Surkhandarya region reached 53.7 billion soms, while in Khorezm region it was 20.6 billion soms. Kashkadarya region produced 17.4 billion soms, and Bukhara region produced 9.4 billion soms. The smallest volumes were recorded in Navoi and Jizzakh regions, at 0.2 and 0.1 billion soms, respectively.

Previously, in the second quarter of 2026, the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection discovered numerous cases of unjustified price increases for medicines. As a result of the inspection, consumers were compensated for damages amounting to 1.9 billion soms.

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in Uzbekistan amounted to 27.95 million soms for the period from January to June 2026.

In real terms, this indicator showed a growth of 6.6% compared to the same period in 2025. Preliminary committee data indicates that in January-June 2025, GDP per capita was 23.89 million soms, which means an increase in the nominal value of the indicator by more than 4 million soms year-on-year.

Long-term trends also indicate an increase in GDP per capita. In January-June 2022, this indicator was 12.46 million soms, then it grew to 14.58 million soms in 2023 and reached 18.13 million soms in 2024.

Thus, over the five-year period, from January-June 2022 to January-June 2026, the GDP per capita indicator more than doubled, increasing from 12.46 million soms to 27.95 million soms.

Market services volume in Uzbekistan for January-July 2026 exceeded 800 trillion soms

In the period from January to July 2026, the total volume of market services provided in Uzbekistan reached 802.5 trillion soms. In real terms, this indicator showed a growth of 16.7% compared to the same period last year.

Structure of the services market

Trade services accounted for the most significant share among all services, totaling 202 trillion soms. Large volumes were also recorded in the accommodation and catering services segment (149.7 trillion soms), financial services (125.8 trillion soms), and transport services (121.5 trillion soms).

Other market sectors also made a substantial contribution: communication and IT accounted for 61.6 trillion soms, while education contributed 27.2 trillion soms. Real estate transactions generated 19.4 trillion soms, whereas the volume of healthcare services amounted to 13.9 trillion soms.

It is worth noting that it was previously announced that the economy of Uzbekistan grew by 8.5% in the first half of 2026, and one of the key factors of this growth was noted as the increase in the volume of market services.
