Law on Limiting Noise Levels at Night and on Weekends Approved in Uzbekistan

A law 'On the Protection of the Population from the Harmful Effects of Noise' was adopted in Uzbekistan and signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 9. This document defines permissible noise levels and introduces timeframes for creating noise that disturbs the rest and tranquility of citizens.

According to the new legislation, it is forbidden to exceed the established noise level during the period from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM on weekdays. Stricter restrictions apply on weekends and non-working holidays—from 10:00 PM to 9:00 AM.

The new standards apply to noise generated by both domestic and household activities inside residential buildings, as well as from construction equipment, transport, and other types of activities. The permissible noise level is determined by sanitary rules and norms under which a person does not experience significant discomfort and no serious changes occur in the body.

Control over compliance with these requirements is assigned to the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health under the Ministry of Health. Citizens affected by noise pollution have the right to seek compensation in court.

The law will come into effect three months after its official publication, specifically on December 11, 2026.
