Representatives from the tourism sectors of both countries met at the 'Silk Road Samarkand' international tourism center. The main goal of the forum is to expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia, increase the number of tourists, and open new tourist routes.
At the opening ceremony, Sanjar Tozhiev, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee, and Natalia Kvachantaradze, Chairwoman of the Georgian Tourism Association, spoke. The sides emphasized the significant potential for developing cultural, excursion, gastronomic, ecological, and business tourism.
Furthermore, issues such as expanding direct flights, strengthening partnerships between tour operators, and creating media tours were discussed.
Sanjar Tozhiev expressed hope that the forum would lead to the conclusion of concrete agreements and joint projects. Following the official session, B2B meetings took place between representatives of the tourism businesses of Uzbekistan and Georgia. Tour operators and companies exchanged views on joint initiatives and new tourism products aimed at increasing the tourist flow from both countries.
As part of the forum, Georgian guests familiarized themselves with tourist attractions in Samarkand and Bukhara. These visits are intended to more broadly promote Uzbekistan's tourism opportunities in the Georgian market.
The Norwegian tour operator 'Elite Trave' has introduced a special tourism program called 'Treasures of the Silk Road' (Silkeveiens skatter). This program aims to widely promote the rich historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan among foreign tourists.
