In June 2026, business activity in Uzbekistan continued to grow across all regions of the country. This growth was driven by an increase in interbank payments, higher activity on the commodity and raw materials exchange, an increase in the number of operating economic entities, and an increase in trademark registrations.
Business Activity Index
According to data from the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the Business Activity Index (BAI) for June 2026 reached 1128 points. This represents an increase of 12.8% compared to the previous month and a growth of 36% compared to the same period last year.
Dynamics of Key BAI Components
An analysis of the main components of the BAI showed the following changes in June: the component reflecting operations in economic entities' bank accounts increased by 18.7%; the intensity of raw material purchases on the commodity and raw materials exchange grew by 13.5%; the number of active economic entities increased by 1.2%; and the trademark registration component showed a growth of 18.5%.
Regional Growth Features
The growth of the business activity index in June 2026 was recorded universally. The largest increase was noted in the Syrdarya region (51.3%), Surkhandarya region (49.1%), Namangan region (47.1%), and Khorezm region (45%).
Interbank Payments
During the reporting period, the total number of interbank payment operations amounted to 7,930.9 thousand, which is 1,246.9 thousand operations (or 18.7%) more than in May 2026. Compared to last year, the growth was 25.7%. The growth of banking operations between legal entities was most noticeable in Kashkadarya region (by 25.9%), Jizzakh region (by 24.7%), Fergana region (by 23.7%), and Syrdarya region (by 23%).
The increase in the number of payments is linked to the growth in the total volume of payment documents processed through the Central Bank's interbank electronic payment system. Thus, compared to May, the number of memorial orders increased by 24.2% (by 510.9 thousand), payment orders by 14.5% (by 620.9 thousand), payment claims by 25.6% (by 3.7 thousand), and collection orders by 40.4% (by 111.3 thousand).
Exchange Activity
The exchange component of the BAI in June 2026 was 1.1350, which is 13.5% higher than in the previous month. Although the average volume of goods per transaction decreased by 3.8%, the number of concluded deals increased by 31%. The total trading volume for 34 main types of goods on the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange reached 9,509 billion soms, which is 27.7% more than in May.
Key drivers of the growth in exchange activity were: a 12-fold increase in the trade of compound feeds, a 4.2-fold increase in cotton fiber lint, a 2.5-fold increase in glass banks, and an average 2.1-fold increase in gasoline grades AI-91, AI-92, and AI-95.
Economic Entities and Trademarks
The component reflecting the number of active economic entities reached 1.0120, showing a growth of 1.2% compared to the previous month. The total number of such entities increased by 10,471, reaching 530.3 thousand. At the same time, the number of small enterprises grew by 9.2 thousand to 435.4 thousand, while the number of large enterprises decreased by 46 to 4,649. The number of farms also increased by 1,283, reaching 90.3 thousand.
Regarding trademark registration, in June 2026, this component was 1.1855, an increase of 18.5% compared to the previous month. During this period, 473 trademarks and trade names were registered by legal entities, according to Islombek Saparmatov from the CEIR.
