Representatives from Uzbekistan and Poland held discussions on the potential creation of a logistics center in Poland. The goal of this project is to simplify the delivery of Uzbek products to the markets of the European Union and other international destinations.
The negotiations took place as part of a business mission of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Poland. The meeting was attended by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Amirsaid Azamkhodzhayev, Honorary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Poland, and Michał Kaminski, Deputy Marshal of the Senate of Poland.
The parties discussed prospects for deepening trade and economic ties, expanding investment cooperation, and strengthening contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
One of the key issues raised at the meeting was the creation of a logistics center that should improve the supply process of Uzbek goods to the European market. Participants emphasized that this initiative will increase export opportunities for Uzbek producers, accelerate product distribution, and open new supply routes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all parties confirmed their readiness to continue practical work on the implementation of the project, strengthen ties between business communities, and promote joint initiatives.
Uzbekistan and Georgia have reached agreements on the electronic exchange of road transport permits and are actively working on creating their own logistics infrastructure in Georgian ports. This was reported by the Minister of Transport, Ilhom Makhkamov.
The state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Georgia is of great importance for Uzbekistan from both an economic and a transport and logistics perspective. During the visit, electronic interaction regarding all road transport permits was agreed upon, both between the two countries and to third countries. The Minister emphasized that this will increase transparency, save time, and simplify the work of local carriers.
Ilhom Makhkamov specified that over sixty percent of Uzbek road carriers use Georgia for their routes. The parties also discussed rail transport, noting discounts of up to 70% on container transport along the CASCA+ route. Agreement was reached to extend these discounts to other types of wagons to increase the attractiveness of this corridor.
CASCA+ is a joint initiative of the railways of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. This route covers three zones: Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan), the South Caucasus (Azerbaijan and Georgia), and Anatolia (Turkey). The symbol '+' indicates readiness to accept new partners, and the ultimate goal of the route is to connect Southeast Asian states, including China, with Europe.
Particular attention was paid to Georgian ports with access to the Black Sea. Minister Makhkamov announced an agreement to build Uzbek infrastructure in these ports. He added that after the visit, locations for placing this infrastructure will be determined, and issues with local and Uzbek exporters, importers, and major forwarding companies will be coordinated. Subsequently, a consortium responsible for the construction and operation of this infrastructure will be formed.
Akmal Kamolov, First Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Karakalpakstan, stated that the republic intends to use the Georgian route to export its salt to Europe. He noted that a warehouse is planned to be built in the large port of Poti, where salt will be supplied for subsequent sale across Europe.
Kamolov emphasized the uniqueness of the product, stating that Karakalpakstan salt is natural, and that the problem of the Aral Sea has transformed into an economic opportunity. He also reported that there is demand for this salt in Europe, and it is already being exported to Germany and other European countries. Regarding current supply plans, they involve transit through Kazakhstan and the port of Azerbaijan.
Previously, the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade visited the Georgian ports of Anaklia, Poti, and Batumi, as well as the Poti industrial zone. The main topic of the meetings was expanding Uzbekistan's trade with Georgia. In Anaklia, the possibility of Uzbek firms participating in the construction of Georgia's deep-sea port, which will become part of international routes, including the future China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, was considered. In Poti and Batumi, the possibility of creating warehouses and terminals for Uzbek cargo was discussed.
As a result of the last trip, the parties agreed to prepare agreements and form a consortium involving Uzbek companies. Previously, Laziz Kudratov, head of the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, reported that following the president's visit, 70 trade and investment projects worth about $1 billion were agreed upon. Logistics was named a key area, as Georgia is considered an important transport hub for exporting Uzbek products to Western markets.
Kudratov also mentioned the creation of a trade and logistics and production center in the Poti free economic zone, where enterprises can complete the production of textiles, food products, and household appliances before export. In addition, projects in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and energy were discussed, including expanding olive cultivation in Surkhandarya and creating a feed production hub for livestock.
On July 1, 2026, the Uzbekistan-Georgia Business Forum took place in Tbilisi, organized to deepen economic, investment, and industrial ties between Uzbekistan and Georgia. This event served as an important platform for open dialogue among representatives of government bodies, financial institutions, and business circles from both countries.
The forum was held shortly before the first official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Georgia in twenty-three years, lending special weight to the meeting and demonstrating the parties' readiness for a new level of practical interaction. The opening of the forum was attended by the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrishvili.
About 300 executives and representatives from various structures participated in the forum: companies, financial institutions, free industrial zones, industry associations, and consulting firms from Uzbekistan and Georgia. Among the Georgian participants were structures such as Poti Free Industrial Zone, Tbilisi Free Zone, Hualing Free Industrial Zone, as well as banks TBC Bank and Bank of Georgia, and companies PwC, Grant Thornton, Maersk, Aramex Georgia, Softgen, DataMind, GM Pharmaceuticals, and Aversi-Rational, representing logistics, energy, construction, pharmaceuticals, IT, tourism, hospitality, agriculture, and food industry sectors.
During the event, data on the development of the Uzbek economy was presented: since 2017, the country's economy has doubled, and in 2025, GDP growth reached 7.7 percent. A significant increase in the number of foreign investors was also noted: if there were about four thousand enterprises with foreign capital in the country in 2017, their number has now grown to twenty thousand.
A positive trend in Uzbek-Georgian trade relations was emphasized. In 2025, the volume of mutual trade reached 268 million US dollars. The parties set a common goal to increase this figure to 1 billion US dollars, transforming relations from simple trade to industrial partnership, joint production, investment, and entry into new markets.
Forum participants discussed the main vectors for developing substantive partnership. Special attention was paid to transport and logistics, including utilizing the potential of the Middle Corridor and Georgia's role as a natural route for Uzbekistan's access to the Black Sea and European markets. In this context, the project to create a trade and logistics and production hub in the Poti Free Industrial Zone was discussed.
To strengthen logistical links, the adoption of the Industrial Cooperation Program until 2027 is planned, which will serve as a roadmap for launching new productions, investment projects, and forming sustainable ties between enterprises of both countries.
Prospects in the pharmaceutical and agro-industrial sectors were examined. Georgian companies were offered the possibility of establishing production facilities in Uzbekistan, for example, based on the innovative cluster 'Tashkent Pharma Park', followed by entry into Central Asian markets. The parties saw potential in combining Uzbekistan's raw material base with Georgia's experience in winemaking, food processing, branding, and premium packaging to create high value-added products.
Other important areas included energy, electrical engineering, and digital services. In the IT sector, given similar export growth rates, the focus was placed on fintech, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, BPO services, and the digitalization of logistics processes.
Financial interaction was viewed as support for the real sector. An example of success was the activities of TBC Bank in Uzbekistan, where TBC Bank Group and its partners have already invested over 460 million US dollars. It is planned to activate the use of such mechanisms to support infrastructure, export, and industrial projects.
Stable growth in mutual interest in tourism was also noted: tourist flow from Georgia to Uzbekistan increased more than two and a half times compared to 2019, and the number of trips by Uzbek citizens to Georgia grew by 50.2 percent in 2025. This opens up opportunities to create routes connecting the Silk Road, the Caucasus, and the Black Sea region, as well as for joint work in hospitality and wellness tourism.
During the main session, presentations were given by the President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Giorgi Pertia, and the Director of the Investment Attraction Agency of Uzbekistan, Roxana Nesor, as well as representatives of investment structures. The forum concluded with the signing of bilateral agreements, as well as the holding of B2B and G2B meetings for detailed elaboration of specific projects and further development of mutually beneficial partnership.
The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, made a working trip to Minsk on June 29. The main goal of the visit was to strengthen bilateral economic dialogue and define new directions for expanding industrial interaction between the two states.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties reached agreements on the implementation of joint investment projects. These projects are designed to ensure capital inflow, transfer of modern technologies, and the creation of new jobs in Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the head of the Uzbek ministry held talks with the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Yuriy Shuleiko. The participants noted the stable dynamics of mutual trade, which reached 965 million US dollars by the end of last year.
Currently, 250 enterprises with Belarusian capital operate in Uzbekistan, while 110 companies with Uzbek investments operate in Belarus. The parties discussed in detail the preparation of a joint roadmap for developing cooperation, as well as the organizational aspects of holding the third Interregional Forum, scheduled to take place in Minsk from July 6 to 8.
The officials paid particular attention to the prospects of creating livestock clusters in Belarus and increasing cooperation in the fields of food production, light industry, furniture, chemical products, and building materials.
The meetings were also an important step in completing the organizational and substantive preparations for the upcoming official visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Minsk.
Laziz Kudratov's visit program included meetings with leaders of major Belarusian companies. In the pharmaceutical sector, possibilities for localizing drug production and forming specialized scientific and production clusters in Uzbekistan were discussed. In the food industry segment, the minister discussed launching projects for the production of dairy products, confectionery, and baby food with partners.
Furthermore, after negotiations with representatives of the textile and woodworking industries, specific plans were outlined for organizing joint production of clothing, furniture, polymer products, and other in-demand goods.
