If you are tired of eating parathas, poha, or upma every day for breakfast during the winter period, try making roti from ragi and moringa leaves. This appetizing flatbread is easily made from ragi flour, fresh moringa leaves, and spices. It can be served hot with green paste or yogurt.
During the cold season, it is extremely important to pay attention to nutrition. People prefer dishes that are not only tasty but also provide the body with necessary nutrients. A healthy and satisfying breakfast will be an especially good start to the day. Although parathas, poha, upma, or chila are usually eaten for breakfast, if you are tired of monotonous breakfasts, you can try something new.
You can include roti made from ragi and moringa leaves in your breakfast. Ragi is considered an excellent source of calcium and fiber, and moringa leaves also contain many nutrients. Roti made from these two ingredients has a wonderful taste and is very easy to prepare. Notably, it does not require many ingredients to make; it can be quickly prepared with some spices and vegetables available at home. It can be served with green paste, yogurt, or tomato paste.
To begin, take ragi flour in a large bowl. Then add finely chopped onion, moringa leaves, dried red pepper, salt, grated coconut, and garlic. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
After that, gradually add warm water, kneading a soft and smooth dough. While kneading the dough, thoroughly crush the moringa leaves and garlic by hand so that their flavor is well absorbed into the dough. Then cover the dough and leave it for about 30 minutes.
Prepare a damp cotton cloth, laying it on a plate or under inverted cookware. Take a ball of dough the size of a lemon, lightly grease your hands with oil or water, and place it on the cloth. Press it with your hands to give it the shape of a thin, round flatbread.
Carefully transfer the flatbread onto a warm baking sheet using the damp cloth and remove the cloth. Fry over medium heat for about a minute. When the flatbread starts to brown slightly, brush the edges and top with a little oil. Then fry it on both sides until cooked. It is important to cook the roti over low or medium heat so that it cooks through inside.
Similarly, prepare the remaining flatbreads from the leftover dough. Your delicious and nutritious ragi and moringa roti is ready. Serve the hot roti with green paste, tomato paste, or yogurt.
