IT Minister S. Krishnan announced on Friday that the government has approved a new batch of twelve applications, with a total value exceeding 7,500 crore rupees, under the Electronic Component Manufacturing Scheme.
The latest round of approvals covers projects related to materials and capital goods, thereby expanding the scope of this scheme across the entire electronics supply chain.
These approvals contribute to accelerating the implementation of the scheme, which aims to create an indigenous ecosystem for components and reduce India's dependence on imports.
The government seeks to strengthen upstream segments, such as raw materials and manufacturing equipment, alongside the production of the components themselves. Furthermore, the Semicon 2.0 web application was launched as part of the ambitious Semicon India Programme.
