Government approves 12 electronics manufacturing projects worth over 7,500 crore rupees

IT Minister S. Krishnan announced on Friday that the government has approved a new batch of twelve applications, with a total value exceeding 7,500 crore rupees, under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).

The latest round of approvals covers projects related to both materials and capital goods, thereby expanding the scope of this scheme across the entire electronics supply chain.

These approvals contribute to accelerating the implementation of the scheme, which aims to create an internal ecosystem for components and reduce India's dependence on imports. The government seeks to strengthen upper-level segments, such as raw materials and manufacturing equipment, alongside the production of components themselves.

Furthermore, on Friday, the government launched the Semicon 2.0 web portal as part of the large-scale Semicon India Programme.
