PSET presented its ERP platform for higher education at the Purcon 2026 conference

PSET decided to present its ERP platform for the higher education sector not at a specialized technology exhibition, but at the annual Purchasing Consortium for Higher Education conference in South Africa, known as Purcon 2026.

CEO Ebenezer Smith explained his choice by stating that Purcon brings together all higher education institutions, including colleges and universities, in one place, which, according to him, represents the company's entire target market.

Smith noted that the decision was made after early discussions with educational institutions, where the desire for alternative solutions was constantly raised, as the market is very limited and offers few options.

Sales and Marketing Manager Jean Claude stated more directly that historically there were only two main players for both universities and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges.

The platform is based on a problem recognized by the entire sector: excessively slow data turnover. Smith emphasized that PSET's goal is to eliminate this problem by ensuring connectivity between sponsors, such as Nsfas (National Student Financial Aid Scheme), the institutions themselves, students, and other stakeholders in this ecosystem.

At the conference, the integration feature attracted the most attention, rather than artificial intelligence or dashboards. Claude explained that the main advantage is that all functions are gathered in one place, eliminating the need for employees from different university departments to switch between various systems to perform tasks.

Many institutions use a set of products from various suppliers, and the ability to find everything needed in one place brings them significant relief. Thembi Tabatha, Procurement Director at Vaal University of Technology, confirmed this problem, noting that systems operate in isolation, and data processed in one system may be unavailable in another.

PSET has integrated 18 modules into a single platform. These modules cover management, risk and compliance, student lifecycle, finance, asset and facility management, supply chain, human resources management, and customer relationship management.

Although Claude declined to discuss specific prices, he stated the product's value: transitioning to a new system will allow institutions to achieve more, and the elimination of the need to use multiple systems will save on paying numerous bills at the end of the year.

Feedback at the Event

The launch received a strong response. PSET won the 'Best Purcon Exhibition Stand' award, and the presentation on stage attracted a steady stream of visitors.

The most positive reactions came from procurement specialists, who form the core audience of Purcon. Claude reported that some procurement managers noted that this could become the 'next big thing.'

Sydney Maqoqa, Deputy Director of ICT Services at Nelson Mandela University, although not having used the platform, believes it addresses existing problems, and expectations for it are very high.

The PSET team plans to conduct full demonstrations for interested institutions. Thus, Purcon 2026 showcased the freedom of choice that the sector demanded.

UFNT launches selection process to fill 315 remaining spots in undergraduate courses

The Federal University of Tocantins (UFNT) has initiated three selection processes aimed at filling 315 remaining vacancies in in-person undergraduate courses. These opportunities are for admission in the first semester of 2027 and cover current students of the university itself, students from other colleges, and individuals who already hold a higher education degree.

All registrations must be completed exclusively online through the official UFNT selection process portal. The vacancies have been segmented into three distinct categories: internal transfer and readmission, external transfer, and degree holder, in addition to a specific external transfer modality for the Medicine course.

The registration period began on October 23 and runs until November 23 for most courses. However, the deadline for the external transfer modality for Medicine is November 18. Candidates registered in the Federal Government's Single Registry for Social Programs (CadÚnico) have until 11:59 PM this Tuesday (27) to request an exemption from the registration fee.

Internal Transfer and Readmission

Internal Transfer is intended for students who are regularly enrolled or on a full leave of absence at UFNT during the second semester of 2026 and wish to change courses. Internal Transfer Readmission is directed at former students who have not maintained a link with the institution for more than seven years.

For this modality, the selection criterion is the General Performance Coefficient (CRG) recorded in the academic transcript, and the registration fee is free.

External Transfer and Degree Holder

This selection process serves the external community and offers 157 remaining spots. Of these, 78 are reserved for external transfer, meaning students coming from other colleges or universities. Additionally, there are 79 spots for holders of a higher education degree recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The selection criteria for these spots are the scores obtained in the Tocantins Higher Education Access Exam (EXATO) in the 2025 or 2026 editions. The registration fee is R$ 50, which must be paid by November 18.

External Transfer for Medicine

This option is exclusive to Medicine students from other higher education institutions in the country. The announcement offers 6 remaining spots for the Bachelor's degree in Medicine at the Araguaína campus, distributed across periods 3 through 8 of the undergraduate program. The selection will occur in two phases.

The first phase, which is both qualifying and eliminating, consists of evaluating the candidate's scores in the EXATO exam (2025 or 2026 editions). The second phase, purely eliminating, involves documentary analysis to verify the correspondence between the workload and the curriculum of the subjects taken at the originating institution.

The requirement to participate is to be studying between the 3rd and 8th period of Medicine. Similar to the other external modality, the registration fee is R$ 50, due for payment on November 18.

Survey indicates that 74% of game students in Baixada Santista wish to seek job opportunities outside the region

A survey conducted in Baixada Santista, located on the coast of São Paulo, revealed that a large portion of digital game students plans to move to another city to work in the sector. More than seven out of ten surveyed students expressed a desire to leave the region to find employment in the field.

Furthermore, the study pointed out significant challenges, such as lack of funding and low interaction among students, gamers, and local studios.

The data was collected through the Censo Games Baixada – SP 2.0, which interviewed 221 individuals between August 18 and September 24. The online questionnaire, consisting of 65 questions, explored the gaming market, career possibilities, and participants' perception of artificial intelligence application.

Main findings of the survey

The census findings showed that 74% of students intend to migrate to other cities to work with digital games. Other relevant data include the fact that 55.1% of students and graduates do not recognize any game studio in the locality. Additionally, 42% of gamers could not state whether they had played any title produced in Baixada Santista.

Regarding professional experience, 30% of students and graduates reported having practical experience in studios, with 61% of these professionals working outside the region. Participating studios indicated that the lack of financial resources is the main difficulty for 69.6% of them, and 60% have never tried to submit projects to public calls.

The research also observed that most of the involved studios have less than two years of activity and are not yet legally formalized.

Artificial intelligence in game development

The survey also investigated gamers' views on the use of generative artificial intelligence in the game creation process. Specifically, 37.7% of gamers stated that they would avoid purchasing games developed with this technology, while 53% indicated that their purchase decision would depend on transparency about the use of AI or the intrinsic quality of the game.

Details about the research

Data collection was carried out through questionnaires distributed in developer groups, social media, and QR codes presented at events such as Praia Games and Santos Geek Power Up. It is important to note that the sample used is a convenience sample and therefore does not necessarily represent the entirety of the digital gaming sector in Baixada Santista.

Tiradentes University reformulates teaching methods to suit diverse student needs

Tiradentes University (Unit) has promoted a review of its course catalog and restructured its teaching methodologies and formats. The main objective is to satisfy the distinct profiles of students while maintaining the standard of academic excellence and quality.

This new approach was designed considering the specificities of each course and the demands of the students. Furthermore, the change reflects the latest guidelines established by the Ministry of Education (MEC) for higher education.

Within Unit, the modernization of the pedagogical model incorporates Project-Based Learning (PBL). This methodology aims to bring theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom closer to the real situations and challenges faced in the professional environment.

Recognizing that university experience is crucial for professional training, the in-person undergraduate program at Tiradentes University (Unit) combines classroom lectures, practical activities, academic interaction, and direct contact with professors and colleagues, offering a trajectory that transcends mere disciplinary content.

To accommodate various student profiles, Unit provides flexibility, technological support, and academic monitoring throughout the formative journey. In this model, the student gains the freedom to manage their studies according to their routine, accessing materials and tasks through digital platforms.

The blended learning format stands out as an important differential for those seeking greater autonomy in daily organization without giving up interaction with teachers, colleagues, and the practical moments essential for professional development. This is an unprecedented format implemented by Unit, allowing part of the content to be followed digitally, facilitating the reconciliation between studies, work, and personal life.

The quality of the blended undergraduate degree is equated to the in-person one, as it uses the same laboratories and professors; the student studies three days in person and two days online. Registrations are already open, with evaluation criteria being the Enem score or a simplified process that includes essay analysis.

In Sergipe, the new blended format is available in several courses and campuses of Unit. At the Farolândia Campus, courses in Gastronomy, Pedagogy, and Occupational Therapy are offered. At the Estância Campus, available courses include Physical Education, Pedagogy, Social Work, and Occupational Therapy. The Itabaiana Campus also offers Physical Education, Pedagogy, Social Work, and Occupational Therapy, as does the Propriá Campus, which offers Physical Education, Pedagogy, and Occupational Therapy.

This variety of offerings and locations expands opportunities for individuals who wish to enroll in an undergraduate degree and seek a format compatible with their routine.
