A jaguar over 1.5 meters long frightened residents of the Argemiro Ortega neighborhood in Nova Andradina, Mato Grosso do Sul state, on Thursday when it decided to roam. The animal was spotted, which prompted the mobilization of a group including the Military Fire Department and the Environmental Protection Militia (PMA) to catch it.
In a video published on social media, one can see the moment when military personnel managed to surround the animal on the sidewalk. To facilitate the capture, employees used blankets to obscure the animal's view. They then safely immobilized it using a capture ring made of steel cable.
After being caught, the animal was placed in a metal crate and transported to the nearest river, where the police released it, according to Military Fire Department sergeant Edson Amarante Dias of Nova Andradina to G1.
