Tax and customs benefits granted to entrepreneurs around reservoirs for tourism development
Tax and customs benefits have been introduced for entrepreneurs who organize tourism services in Uzbekistan near reservoirs and in adjacent areas. These benefits were established by a relevant decision signed by the President on October 27.
According to the decision, legal entities operating in this sector until October 1, 2029, will be subject to 50% of the established rates for land and property taxes. Additionally, entrepreneurs are allowed to delay or pay in installments customs duties when importing GPS devices intended for water use, rescue and safety equipment, as well as modern sanitation and hygiene facilities.
According to the information, tourism services are currently being provided in only five out of 56 reservoirs in Uzbekistan, while there is potential to develop this sector in another 25 reservoirs. Plans are underway to create new jobs, attract investments, and increase tourist flow by expanding tourism in these areas.
However, strict compliance with safety and environmental requirements is mandatory when establishing tourism facilities. Entrepreneurs must equip their facilities with appropriate means to ensure visitor safety, establish an independent rescue service, or contract with professional rescue structures. Furthermore, they must comply with the requirements for safe use of small vessels and the buildings where they are located.
Environmental requirements also require special attention. Tourism facilities must be equipped with internal sewage networks and local wastewater treatment plants, and discharging wastewater into reservoirs is prohibited.
