Epic Games Store offers the game Flotsam for free and an Idle Champions bundle

On Thursday, November 5th, the Epic Games Store began offering a city-building game and a bundle containing five champions, 160 platinum chests, and two potions for free. This offer will be valid until November 12th.

The title that can be permanently obtained in the library is Flotsam. Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms is a free-to-play game, and what Epic is releasing is the Morte’s Champions of Renown pack, which must be redeemed after logging into the game through the store during the promotional week.

In Flotsam, the post-apocalyptic setting is marked by a flood, leaving plastic, wood, and debris adrift. The player takes command of a group of survivors, known as drifters, and uses these discarded materials to build a floating and itinerant city, including workshops, gardens, and dwellings. This game combines elements of city builder with the survival mechanic seen in Frostpunk, but in a considerably less severe environment.

Gameplay does not involve direct character control; instead, the player establishes priorities and tasks, following a model similar to RimWorld. The operational routine is structured as a series of dependencies: for example, collected wood needs to dry before being turned into beds, while obtaining potable water requires distillers, and fishing ensures food supply. Using a sail, the city navigates the map, exploring submerged ruins and rescuing other survivors.

The development of Flotsam exceeded six years in early access, having started on September 26, 2019. Reviews at the time mentioned content scarcity and repetition after the city achieved self-sufficiency. However, version 1.0, released in December 2025, addressed these issues, introducing a complete narrative campaign, four new specialists, two distinct regions, and ten new buildings.

Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, developed by Codename Entertainment, was classified by PC Gamer in 2017 as a 'Dungeons & Dragons clicker format' game. In this system, heroes attack autonomously, and the player's click serves only as support, allowing the adventure to continue progressing even when the game is closed. The champions interact with each other, meaning that the placement of each one influences the total damage dealt. The game features a roster of 140 champions, including names such as Drizzt, Astarion, and Karlach. The adventures are based on official D&D books, such as Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and Baldur’s Gate.

The weekly package offered includes the champions Morte, Nordom, Donaar, Sentry, and Sheila, along with 32 platinum chests for each character and two potions valid for seven days, along with the familiar Kapak Draconian. To obtain this package, it is necessary to install the game via Epic and log in during the promotion period.

It is important to note that this package is more advantageous for players already familiar with the title, as the game has several systems that may take time for a novice to understand. Additionally, the game sells chests containing equipment and potions, items that aid in advancing through the most challenging stages.

Free game Sorry We’re Closed available on Epic Games Store until November 5th

The Epic Games Store makes at least one free title available for download weekly. This week, the game Sorry We’re Closed, classified as retro survival horror, arrives with both visual and gameplay mechanic updates, accessible from October 29th to November 5th.

Sorry We’re Closed presents a survival horror narrative centered on the clash between angels and demons, combining elements of terror with vibrant and colorful visuals. The title is a reinterpretation of the genre, inspired by PlayStation 1 classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but maintaining its own identity in terms of aesthetics and mechanics.

The gameplay adheres to the traditional format of the genre, including exploration, combat against creatures, puzzle-solving, and the use of fixed camera angles. Additionally, the game incorporates social aspects; interactions with characters advance the story, introduce new missions and objectives, and allow for the unlocking of different endings based on player decisions.

The fixed camera contributes to creating tension without compromising the gaming experience. An additional element, the third eye, serves to connect the real and demonic universes, being used in the search for hidden passages and during combat. During confrontations, the perspective shifts to first-person and movement is restricted, intensifying the pressure, similar to older survival horror games.

Regarding the plot, the storyline deviates from the usual standard of the genre. The player takes on the role of Michelle, a character with limited lifespan, who tries to break a curse imposed by a demon thirsty for love. The story addresses various themes, such as prejudice and discrimination, and may not appeal to everyone, despite offering an immersive survival horror experience.

Sorry We’re Closed establishes itself as a unique addition to survival horror on Epic Games, mixing terror, style, and innovative mechanics. It is aimed at retro game enthusiasts looking for engaging novelties.

Trailer for 'Student of the Year After Dark': School, Intrigue, and Elements of 'Squid Game'

Karan Johar, who created the film 'Student of the Year' in 2012, which launched three new actors into Bollywood, has now transformed this story into a web series universe. Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of the Kapoor clan, is involved in the series. Her show, titled 'Student of the Year After Dark,' has been released on streaming platforms, and its trailer has appeared.

In the new project, Shanaya Kapoor will play a dual role. The series resembles a detective story with murder elements, where she must uncover the mystery behind her half-sister's death. The trailer begins with the demise of Aisha Malik, a student at Saint Teresa Heritage School, who suddenly drowns. Her body was found in a pond, completely covered in ice due to the cold.

The family is immersed in mourning, but Aisha's sister strives to find out the truth about this death or accident. To do so, she enrolls at Saint Teresa Heritage School and meets Aisha's close friends and boyfriend. In her opinion, Aisha's friends, roommate, and boyfriend are hiding something. Now, her twin sister must not only uncover the whole truth but also participate in the annual Student of the Year competition at Saint Teresa Heritage School.

Currently, the trailer only reveals general details about the series 'Student of the Year After Dark.' The real mystery will be revealed after the series airs. Karan Johar's 'Student of the Year' is a strong brand that became a hit 14 years ago. Whether the series will remain as popular is yet to be seen.

Shanaya's series presents an interesting plot that brings associations with the popular Korean drama 'Squid Game.' In the trailer, she is shown in a red tracksuit performing tasks. The 'Student of the Year' franchise has always been filled with interesting games and challenges. In the two previous installments, it was shown how students had to reach the pinnacle in sports, activities, and academics to earn the title of Student of the Year. Something similar will happen in Shanaya's series, but it seems to have a feeling reminiscent of 'Squid Game.'

Watching the trailer is enjoyable and raises expectations for the show. It is also the first time Shanaya will appear in a dual role, which is a surprise in her career. There is hope that this project will allow her to impress the audience. The web series 'Student of the Year After Dark' will be available on Jio Hotstar from November 13.

Epic Games offers free games: Home and Sker Ritual

Weekly, the Epic Games Store makes at least one free title available for download. This week, two games are highlighted: Home – A Unique Horror Adventure, an indie horror title focused on choices, and Sker Ritual, a round-based multiplayer FPS.

Sker Ritual

Sker Ritual is a cooperative first-person shooter where participants battle swarms of adversaries across multiple rounds. The setting takes place in the 1940s, incorporating themes of superstition, mythology, paganism, and rural rituals to establish a sense of terror known as folk horror. Its dynamic resembles the Zombies mode in Call of Duty, requiring four players to survive each round by facing common and special enemies, collecting new weapons and benefits, completing missions, and solving puzzles to advance the narrative.

A distinctive aspect of Sker Ritual is the miracles, items that provide upgrades to weapons and abilities, following the logic of roguelike games. This mechanic helps differentiate Sker Ritual from other similar titles and from CoD's Zombies mode.

Sker Ritual

This game is recommended for enthusiasts of Shadows of Evil and other iterations of this mode, especially the initial ones. Despite the similarities, it maintains its own characteristics that may attract even players who do not appreciate Call of Duty's Zombies mode.

Home

Home is an independent horror game characterized by an entirely pixel art visual style. In this pixelated setting, the player controls a character whose identity and origin within the house remain unknown. The mystery is revealed gradually, reinforced by the soundtrack and dark atmosphere, which intensify the feeling of horror.

Home's gameplay follows the classic model of point-and-click games from the 1980s and 1990s: the player must explore the residence, read documents, and thus unravel the enigma surrounding the protagonist and the location. This process is intrinsically linked to numerous decisions, each presenting two alternatives, which branches the story into various paths and, consequently, multiple endings. These choices also contribute to replayability, given that the game has a short duration, estimated at about two hours.

Home is offered for free on Epic Games this week, capturing the essence of classic point-and-click games while differentiating itself through the strong emphasis placed on narrative choices. Its conception suggests something closer to an interactive film than a traditional game, although it manages to engage and hold the attention of those who enjoy mysteries and point-and-clicks.
