TVS unveils electric maxi-scooter M1-S with 120 km range and fast charging

In the world of electric scooters, competition is now determined not only by the best range and low price. Companies are releasing electric scooters that can compete with gasoline maxi-scooters in terms of appearance, performance, and technology. In this regard, TVS Motor has introduced its new electric maxi-scooter, the M1-S. A distinctive feature of this scooter is the combination of maxi-scooter design with a large battery, powerful engine, and premium features. The company presented it at the EICMA 2026 exhibition.

It is interesting that the conceptual model of this scooter was shown in Milan last year. Now, a production model is presented, which is preparing to enter the European market. The TVS M1-S was developed in Singapore. Its design matches that of large maxi-scooters, and the battery is located under the seat, which helps lower the scooter's center of gravity.

This electric scooter, based on the Ion Mobility M1-S platform, has the following dimensions: length 1970 mm, width 730 mm, and wheelbase 1350 mm. Its weight is 150 kilograms, and the ground clearance is 170 mm, with a seat height of 800 mm. The scooter is equipped with 14-inch wheels front and rear.

The M1-S is fitted with a 4.2 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery. In terms of performance, the TVS M1-S demonstrates high metrics thanks to the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) installed on the chassis. This motor generates 16.8 hp. The company claims that this electric scooter is capable of covering a distance of up to 120 kilometers on a single charge.

According to the company, this electric maxi-scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and its top speed reaches 105 km/h. It is also equipped with cruise control for convenience during long rides. It should be noted that these technical specifications are based on data for the European market, and changes may occur upon release in the Indian market.

The M1-S is fitted with 110/70 tires in the front and 120/70-14 in the rear. The suspension includes a telescopic fork in the front and two adjustable shock absorbers in the rear. Both wheels are equipped with 230 mm disc brakes. Additionally, the scooter has a dual-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The charging system in the TVS M1-S has a power of 1.8 kW. The company states that with it, the battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in 75 minutes. There is also an onboard charger that allows the battery to be charged from a standard household socket.

This electric scooter offers ample storage space. Under the seat, there is a storage compartment with a volume of 26 liters, where a full-sized helmet can be placed. Furthermore, there are two separate storage areas in the front: one contains a USB-A charging port, and the other can hold a half-liter water bottle or small items.

Regarding functions, the scooter is equipped with a 7-inch TFT display. This display supports connection via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and built-in LTE connectivity. Thanks to Android Auto and iOS applications, this electric scooter also has a Remote Key function, allowing the driver to unlock the seat remotely. Information about finding the scooter and maintenance can also be accessed through the application.
