Omoda E5 receives updates, new entry version, and price reduction, but loses range

The electric coupe SUV Omoda E5, presented at the Interlagos Festival in August, was launched on the market with several updates and the introduction of a new entry-level version.

The current prices for the Omoda E5 are R$ 159,990 for the Elite version and R$ 184,990 for the Prestige version. Previously, there was only one model, equivalent to the top-of-the-line, costing R$ 209,990. For the first batch, promotional prices of R$ 149,990 for the Elite and R$ 179,990 for the Prestige were offered.

Aesthetic and Interior Changes

The visual modifications applied to the Omoda E5 served to better distinguish it from its hybrid counterpart. The front received a more minimalist, grille-less design, keeping the charging port positioned near the headlight. At the rear, taillights were installed that share the visual identity with the Omoda 7.

Inside, the dashboard was renewed, eliminating the bezel that connected the instrument panel to the multimedia center. The coupe SUV now features a prominent rectangular screen in the center and a second, thinner screen behind the steering wheel, following a trend observed in various Chinese vehicles.

In terms of screens, the Elite version has a 12.3-inch multimedia center, while the Prestige comes with a larger 15.6-inch screen. A distinction between the models also lies in the finish: the more economical option uses fabric upholstery, whereas the top version employs synthetic material.

Performance and Range

The mechanical system was updated, with the electric motor now generating 210 hp and 29.4 kgfm, resulting in greater power, although there is a loss of torque. The acceleration capability from 0 to 100 km/h improved, being achieved in 7.2 seconds.

The Prestige version is equipped with a 60.9 kWh battery, which guarantees a range of 320 km in the INMETRO cycle, representing a reduction of 25 km compared to the previous model. The entry-level Elite version has a 50.6 kWh battery and offers 278 km of range.

This decrease in range is compensated by the increase in DC charging power: in the Prestige version, it rose from 80 kW to 130 kW, and in the entry-level version, it reached 110 kW, a notable figure compared to competitors.

Features and Availability

The Omoda E5 Elite adopts the Chery group's strategy of differentiating versions, which implies the exclusion of the ADAS package. Generally, its set of equipment is similar to that of the hybrid model. Additional items present in the top-of-the-line Prestige version compared to the Elite include:

The entry-level version features a more basic LCD panel, similar to that found in the Jaecoo 5, and suffers cuts in simple details, such as courtesy mirror lighting. However, it retained the soft-touch finish present in the hybrid model.

The new Omoda E5 is already available on the market and will be offered in four shades. The vehicle comes with a total warranty of seven years for the body and eight years for the battery.

Used electric and hybrid SUVs depreciate up to 23.8% in one year, and OLX attributes it to the 'iPhone effect'

Used electric and hybrid sport utility vehicles (SUVs) are suffering more pronounced depreciation compared to sedans and hatchbacks that use the same technology. From January to August 2026, the average advertised price of electrified SUVs on OLX registered an 8.7% reduction compared to the same period in 2025. In contrast, the drop observed in sedans was 6.3%, while in hatchbacks it was 4.9%, according to the OLX Autos Price Report.

Flávio Passos, Vice President of Autos at OLX Group, explained that this depreciation of electric vehicles is due to the lack of infrastructure in the country, uncertainty about battery durability, and above all, what he calls the 'iPhone effect'. He emphasized that the constant introduction of new models with progressively more advanced technologies leads to the obsolescence of electrified vehicles launched recently.

The study analyzed the five electrified models with the highest volume of listings in each body type category, considering vehicles manufactured from 2023 onwards. It is important to note that the values presented are the prices requested by sellers and do not necessarily represent the final transaction value.

The largest individual loss in value was recorded for the 2025 BYD Yuan Plus, which suffered a drop of 23.8%, falling from an average price of R$ 235,990 to R$ 179,900. The 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge Plus also showed a retraction of 16.9%, dropping from R$ 259,900 to R$ 215,900.

It was observed that plug-in hybrids (PHEV), which have external charging capability, lost more value than conventional hybrids (HEV). Specifically, the 2024 GWM Haval H6 PHEV depreciated by 13.5%, surpassing the 5.5% drop of its HEV version from the same year.

However, the depreciation trend was not uniform. The hybrid Toyota Corolla Cross showed the smallest average drop among SUVs, with only 6.4%. On the other hand, the 2025 BYD Song Plus Premium appreciated, rising by 8.1%, from R$ 208,000 to R$ 224,900.

In the sedan segment, the 2025 hybrid Chery Arrizo 6 Pro saw a drop of 12.1%, as did the 2024 BMW 330e M Sport, with 11.1%. Conversely, the hybrid Toyota Corolla maintained a modest loss, ranging between 2.2% and 6.2%.

Among hatchbacks, the 2025 BYD Dolphin Plus led the drops with 17.8%, falling from R$ 184,800 to R$ 151,900. The 2024 Renault Kwid E-Tech Intense registered a drop of 12.9%, while the BYD Dolphin Mini had a smaller depreciation, falling between 1.9% and 3%, depending on the model year.

Used SUVs suffer greater depreciation on OLX in 2026; Chevrolet Tracker leads the decline

Owners of used SUVs may find a surprise when considering selling, as this segment experienced the greatest depreciation on the OLX platform during 2026. According to a survey conducted by the platform, the asking prices for SUV ads decreased by 7% in the period between January and August, compared to the same interval last year.

This percentage reduction was higher than that observed in sedans (which registered a drop of 4.8%) and hatchbacks (with a drop of 3.8%). The study covered the five most advertised models in each body type category, all powered by combustion engines and with model years from 2023 onwards.

This depreciation trend was also noted in another indicator, the Auto B3 Table, which indicated a 7.4% drop in used SUV prices over 12 months up to August.

The Chevrolet Tracker was identified as the SUV with the highest depreciation. Considering all its versions, its price fell by 9.5%. The most significant case is the 2026 Tracker equipped with a 1.0 turbo engine, whose price dropped from R$ 154,090 to R$ 119,990 in listings. This represents a decrease of R$ 34.1 thousand, or a drop of 22.1%, making it the highest index in the entire survey.

Part of this variation can be attributed to the model's launch itself: the 2026 Tracker arrived at dealerships in July 2025, with the LT version priced at R$ 154,090, an amount identical to what was reported by OLX that year. Subsequently, in October, Chevrolet reduced this price to R$ 142,490.

Other popular SUVs followed a similar trajectory. The 2025 Volkswagen T-Cross, with a 1.4 turbo engine, became 14.7% more affordable, while the 2025 Jeep Renegade, with a 1.3 turbo engine, showed a drop of 13.7%. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta registered a 7% loss in value.

However, there were notable exceptions. The 2026 T-Cross, also with a 1.0 turbo engine, saw its price increase by 11.7%, and the Volkswagen Nivus with the same engine saw an increase of 2.3%.

Among sedans, the Volkswagen Virtus was the one that depreciated the most, with a drop of 7%. Hatchbacks showed greater resistance to price cuts, with the Fiat Mobi almost maintaining its original value. However, the 2026 Hyundai HB20, with a naturally aspirated 1.0 engine, suffered a sharp drop of 16.4%.

Conversely, versions equipped with turbo or larger displacement engines were the ones that appreciated the most, as exemplified by the 2025 Fiat Argo 1.3, which became 14.6% more expensive.

Flávio Passos, Vice President of Autos at OLX Group, attributes part of this scenario to the entry of Chinese manufacturers into the market with competitively priced electric vehicles, which exerts pressure on the sector. He commented that 'since the price of the used car follows that of the brand new one, this dynamic tends to devalue it.'
