Heavy rains and hail in Fujairah amid changing weather in the UAE

On Wednesday, November 4, several districts of Fujairah were affected by heavy rains and hail as the weather in the United Arab Emirates continues to transition towards cooler winter months.

This is not the first instance of precipitation in Fujairah this season. Three days prior, rain was recorded in Masafih and Dibba in Fujairah, as well as in Sharjah. Previous rains in the country last month created pleasant landscapes, with camels strolling on rain-soaked roads and children playing while collecting hailstones.

The UAE National Center of Meteorology (NCM) had previously forecast an increase in cloud cover and precipitation across the country in November, warning that the intensity of the rain would increase as dense clouds developed, leading to the formation of fresh or strong winds, as well as dust or sand.

Video footage showed hailstones falling in Dadna, Sharm, and Dibba in Fujairah, and cars moving slowly through heavy downpours on November 4. These videos were published by the UAE Storm Center on X.

Furthermore, today's precipitation was registered only in the northern emirate of Fujairah. In addition to rain, temperatures are continuing to drop across the country, with the minimum temperature recorded today in the Jais Mountains in Ras Al Khaimah at 16.4°C at 05:15 AM.

Heavy rain and hail hit Fujairah, Sharjah, and Khor Fakkan in the UAE

In parts of the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, October 31, precipitation, including heavy downpours and hail, was observed, affecting several areas such as Khor Fakkan, Fujairah, and Sharjah.

Video footage published by the Storm Centre demonstrates strong winds blowing over a road in Khor Fakkan, where heavy rain fell on the area, causing water to accumulate on the road. In one video recording, a child was seen playing with hail and picking up particles from the ground during the rainy weather.

The Storm Centre also shared a video showing how heavy rain significantly reduces visibility from inside a parked car, as torrential streams wash out the view of the road ahead.

Rain was also recorded on roads in Al Madam and Al Fayah in Sharjah. Heavy rain and hail were noted in other areas, including Al Watan Street, while Fujairah experienced precipitation in Masafih and Difta.

Previously, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) had forecast rain in various regions of the UAE for Saturday, as unstable weather conditions affected many territories.

The UAE Ministry of Interior had previously strongly recommended residents to exercise caution in adverse weather conditions. In its warning, it called on citizens to 'stay away from valleys, flood canals, and water accumulation areas.' The department added that some areas of the country are experiencing unstable weather with the probability of heavy rain and hail, which could lead to the overflowing of wadis (valleys), flash floods, and water accumulation.

Furthermore, the administration urged residents to follow the instructions of the relevant authorities, warning: 'Do not attempt to cross these sections and reduce speed while driving.'

Rain and hail fell in some parts of the UAE, forming streams near roads

In the UAE, where cooler days and windy evenings are beginning to be observed, some areas of the country experienced downpours.

Heavy precipitation was recorded in the eastern region of the UAE, causing cars to drive on wet roads. Additionally, there was hail in some places.

According to the National Center of Meteorology, precipitation was expected on Saturday with a drop in temperature. A light or moderate breeze was forecast, and clouds caused dust to rise.

On Saturday, rain fell in Ras Al Khaimah, Kalba, Masafah, and other areas of the eastern region. Footage of wet roads and drivers navigating through hail was presented.

The Storm Center shared video recordings of the rain in Masafah, Marbadah, and Shawka in the Eastern Region. Water accumulated, forming small streams along the curbs while the downpours continued.

The Storm Center also filmed hail inside a car that was falling in Ras Al Khaimah.

Heavy rains and hail fell in the UAE, creating waterfalls in the mountains

Some areas of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced heavy rainfall and hail on Wednesday, October 21, as part of a prolonged period of wet weather in the country.

According to a specialist from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the cause was low barometric pressure spreading over the UAE from the southeast, as well as a trough in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Experts predict five days of continuous rain starting from Tuesday until Saturday, with a possibility of light hail. Although the main amount of precipitation is expected on the eastern coast, as the weather system moves, rain may also be observed in the south and southwest.

Video footage from Masfout, a settlement located near the UAE border, shows waterfalls in the mountains that were formed by runoff rainwater.

Heavy rains in the eastern part of the country, such as in Fujairah, caused road flooding, but cars can still move through the wet streets.

Ras Al Khaimah is one of the rainiest places in the UAE because its geographical location and topography make it more susceptible to wet weather compared to other parts of the country. The video, taken from the Storm Centre's Instagram account, was filmed specifically in Ras Al Khaimah.

Hail has fallen on the UAE for the second consecutive day. The previously shown video was filmed in Masfout. Dr. Ahmed Habib, an NCM meteorologist, had previously told Khaleej Times that the probability of hail in the UAE during this period was unlikely.
