GWM started the pre-sale of the Tank 400 this Tuesday, the 3rd, positioning this SUV as the brand's new top car in the Brazilian market.
With a value of R$ 399 thousand, the Tank 400 is R$ 57 thousand more expensive than the Tank 300. Furthermore, the new model features larger dimensions, reaching 4.99 meters in length, which represents almost 20 centimeters more compared to the Toyota SW4, and accommodates five passengers.
This vehicle enters the luxury SUV segment aimed at off-road activities. Its main competitors include the Toyota SW4 Diamond, the Jetour G700, which was displayed last week, and the BYD Denza B5, which has an initial price of R$ 405 thousand.
The Denza B5 is seen as an important rival, as in June it became the first Chinese car to lead sales in the premium category in Brazil, surpassing BMW models.
The design of the Tank 400 is characterized by straight lines, prominent fenders, and a spare tire mounted on the rear, elements that suggest its preparation for expeditions. Structurally, the SUV follows the tradition of jeeps, being built with a body-on-frame chassis, equipped with 4x4 traction and low gear. The platform used is shared with the Tank 300, Haval H9, and the Poer P30 pickup truck.
GWM confirmed that the Brazilian version of the Tank 400 will be a plug-in hybrid, allowing external charging, and will feature a flex engine. The propulsion system, named Hi4-T, uses a nine-speed automatic transmission.
In China, the vehicle configuration combines a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine with an electric motor, generating a total power exceeding 400 horsepower. In the Chinese cycle, it can travel up to 105 km using only electricity, a figure considered more optimistic than that established by Inmetro.
The Brazilian public had the opportunity to see the model during the Interlagos Festival, held in August. The complete official presentation and disclosure of the national technical specifications are scheduled for November 9th and 10th, coinciding with GWM's last launch event in the country in 2026.
