Hua Eagle Aviation introduces first production cargo drone HE-1A with 2-ton payload

Hua Eagle Aviation, based in Shanxi, unveiled its first mass-produced large cargo drone, the HE-1A, on the final assembly line in Weinan on the morning of October 29. This was reported by Science and Technology Daily and Leiphone. The company positions the HE-1A as a large fixed-wing unmanned transport designed for carrying cargo along trunk and secondary routes between cities.

According to the company, the maximum takeoff weight of the HE-1A is 4 tons, and it is capable of carrying up to 2 tons of cargo, achieving a payload efficiency rate above 50%. This model is based on the HE-1 technology demonstrator, which completed its first flight in September 2024.

Regarding certification, the CAAC's Northwest Regional Administration accepted the application for an aircraft type certificate in March 2026, with the company aiming to obtain the type certificate by the end of 2027. Production samples are planned to be demonstrated at the Zhuhai air show in December, and the first flight is scheduled for the end of this year.

The Weinan base covers an area of about 50,000 square meters and features three production lines, allowing for the manufacturing of over 100 such units annually. Founded in July 2022, the company notes that its engineering team includes specialists who previously worked on the Y-20 transport program and the C919 airliner.

Two subsequent models are currently under development. The HE-2 is a 5-ton class cargo drone with a payload of 2 to 2.5 tons and a rear ramp for cargo deployment; its first flight is planned for 2027. The HE550 model is a 2-ton class hybrid-electric composite wing eVTOL designed to carry at least 500 kg.

Large cargo drones are becoming a growing trend within China's promotion of the low-altitude flight economy. This economy focuses on routes where small multirotors lack sufficient range or payload, and traditional cargo planes are too expensive. Examples of such routes include feeder links between regional logistics hubs and remote areas. Now, the HE-1A must undergo flight testing and certification before it can enter commercial operation.

Rafale Marin makes first landing on aircraft carrier INS Vikrant

The history of the Indian Air Force marked an important milestone when the French-made Rafale Marin successfully completed its first landing on the domestic aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on October 29, 2026. During tests conducted in the Arabian Sea, the aircraft executed a landing with a 45,000-ton aircraft carrier.

This landing was flawless and met all theoretical requirements. It is the first time that the naval version of the Rafale (Rafale-M) has been operated from an Indian aircraft carrier. The successful landing demonstrated the complete compatibility of this aircraft with the Short Take-Off But Arrested Recovery (STOBAR) system of the Vikrant carrier.

These tests represent the first significant step towards incorporating the Rafale Marin into the Indian Navy. INS Vikrant is the first domestically built aircraft carrier in the country. The commencement of operations of modern combat aircraft on it will multiply the fleet's potential. It is planned to make the Rafale Marin the main element of the Vikrant's air wing. These aircraft will gradually replace the outdated MiG-29K fleet, leading to a significant improvement in the navy's maritime combat capabilities.

The Indian Navy has ordered approximately 26 Rafale Marin aircraft from France under a government contract worth approximately 63 thousand crore rupees. This order includes 22 single-seat and 4 two-seat training variants. The aircraft are equipped with an advanced AESA radar, as well as modern weapon systems such as Beyond Visual Range missiles, Exocet anti-ship missiles, and Scalp cruise missiles.

Thanks to these systems, the fleet will gain the ability to conduct high-precision long-range strikes in the Indian Ocean against enemy targets or vessels. The Rafale Marin is already successfully operated on the French Navy's nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, confirming its effectiveness in carrier operations. Currently, the Indian Navy is working on integrating these aircraft into its systems.

During the current tests, aspects such as landing, takeoff, deck maneuvering, and integration with Vikrant's domestic systems are being verified. Night landings, weapons integration, and the process of obtaining full operational clearance will follow. These tests are necessary because each aircraft carrier has its own characteristics. The Vikrant's STOBAR system is based on catapult take-off and arresting wire landing. The successful integration of the Rafale Marin proves that both the technology and the training are on the right track.

This successful landing is a major step towards fully preparing INS Vikrant for combat operations. The Navy aims to become a blue-water force capable of conducting operations in the open sea. Amid growing challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, an aircraft carrier equipped with modern combat aircraft will provide a strategic advantage to the fleet. The long range and powerful weapon systems of the Rafale Marin will increase the presence and influence of the navy in the Indian Ocean. This victory also demonstrates the successful operation of an advanced foreign aircraft on a domestic platform. After the start of Rafale operations on Vikrant, there will be a qualitative change in the naval aviation power. Replacing the MiG-29K with modern aircraft will reduce maintenance issues and increase operational readiness. Thus, the landing on October 29th became the pride of the Indian Air Force and a solid foundation for future preparation.

Meituan launches first drone delivery route to mountain village, cutting delivery time from 5.3 km to 20 minutes

Meituan has opened its first drone delivery route in Zhejiang province, becoming the first company to provide this service to a mountain village on mainland China.

The route runs from the Ulin commercial square, located at the foot of hills in Xikou city, Fenhua district of Ningbo, to Dunshan village, situated within the scenic area of Suizhou Mountain. Residents and visitors place orders through the app as usual, and food is delivered by drone and dropped into a smart locker for collection in the village itself.

The geographical feature plays a key role: the village is located in a highly valued natural zone and attracts a constant stream of visitors, but the road up the mountain is about a 12-kilometer serpentine path, making traditional ground delivery slow and expensive. The flight path is a straight line measuring 5.3 kilometers and takes approximately 10 minutes. According to local reports from Chao News, the total delivery time, from order placement to receipt, has been reduced from nearly an hour to about 20 minutes.

This project was not implemented solely by Meituan but is the result of collaboration among several parties. The company provided the drones, ground stations, and operating system, and also connected the route with merchants at the foot of the hill through its delivery platform. The Municipal Natural Area Development Group of Ningbo coordinated the launch and determined where the service was needed; the natural area itself provided the takeoff and landing points and necessary infrastructure; while a local transport and technology company handles daily maintenance and on-site technical support.

Meituan presents this division of labor as a model for other natural areas that can implement aerial delivery without needing to create their own technical team. Local officials view Dunshan village as a pilot project for a broader model covering mountains and coasts, with future study on its use for infrastructure inspection on slopes, spraying agricultural and forestry chemicals, and transporting supplies. Fenhua district completed the planning of its air routes and ground infrastructure in the first half of this year.

As of the end of September 2026, Meituan's drone operation has completed over 1.1 million orders in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Dubai, serving offices, residential complexes, natural parks, and urban parks. Mountain villages are the latest addition to this list.
