The Dhaka Metro Line 1 project, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will provide a modern mass transit system spanning approximately 31 km. It includes the Airport Route from Kamalapur to the airport and the Purbaachal Route from Natun Bazar to the Purbaachal terminal, featuring 19 stations and a depot in Pitulganga.

The company stated that these two packages form the core operational systems for Dhaka Metro Line 1 and will help ensure a reliable solution for Dhaka's urban transport. Under these orders, L&T, in collaboration with its Japanese partner Sumitomo Corporation, will undertake the design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of the complete scope of work for tracks, power supply and distribution systems, traction substations, overhead line systems, and associated electrical facilities across the entire corridor.
