Tencent Cloud introduces WAND-Vega, a platform generating 4.5 million images daily

Tencent Cloud announced the launch of WAND-Vega, a multimodal application model, as well as a real-time interaction service called Real-time Intelligence and an AI voice agent for its cloud contact center. These products were presented at a multimodal session during the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit on October 30, 2026.

WAND is a Tencent Cloud brand specializing in audio and video AI. It integrates the Hunyuan model and other core multimodal models, including WAND-Vega, along with over 100 media processing tools. These tools cover generation, understanding, processing, and encoding, and companies can use them via standard APIs and existing cloud products.

The updated version of WAND-Vega is based on widely used open-source models that Tencent has significantly optimized. It is capable of generating and understanding images, videos, and speech, and is tailored for use in advertising, e-commerce, short dramatic series, and comics, as well as in AI content creation tool platforms. Furthermore, the preliminary Hy Image 3.5 model, released in September, joined WAND to create visual content for posters, storyboards, and e-commerce.

According to Tencent's statements, WAND now serves over 2000 companies and produces more than 4.5 million images and 3 million seconds of video daily, allowing clients to reduce overall content production costs by approximately 20%. The company notes that creating a short dramatic series, which previously took weeks, can now go from script to final edit in just a few hours. During the 2026 World Cup, WAND provided technical services to official broadcasting platforms in 17 countries and regions. In upcoming APEC meetings in China, the system will handle media signal distribution, AI-powered multilingual subtitling, and vertical screen adaptation for mobile devices in the media center.

The Real-time Intelligence service utilizes a global low-latency network and Tencent's real-time engineering solutions, adding speech recognition, speech synthesis, and real-time rendering capabilities. It offers two types of agents: real-time dialogue agents allow users to interrupt a conversation and ask clarifying questions without interrupting the dialogue, while real-time understanding agents convert fragmented speech into structured information. Companies can integrate the entire package or individual features, such as simultaneous translation and real-time video generation. Tencent reports that this service is applied in healthcare, logistics, AI companionship, and interview training.

The Tencent Cloud AI voice agent for Contact Centers uses a dialogue model optimized for phone calls to handle incoming calls, outbound follow-up contacts, and responses exchanged with human staff to solve problems, not just answer them. It is implemented in the automotive, financial, insurance, logistics, and manufacturing industries.

EdgeOne Booster is used for inference operations, providing network acceleration, security, and model deployment on edge nodes located close to users. Tencent claims that thanks to this, the Moya robot from DroidUp became 30% faster in providing the first response and reduced interaction jitter by 4.6 times. Tencent Cloud also collaborates with AgiBot and DroidUp in embodied AI.

Tencent Map provides developers with agent capabilities via MCP, agent skills, and connectors

At an industry event, Tencent Map presented a comprehensive overview of agent capabilities within its system during the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit in Shenzhen on October 30, 2026. The company announced its intention to open these mapping agent capabilities to industrial clients, smart hardware manufacturers, and developers.

Some products are already utilizing these features. These include the Yuanbao assistant, Xiaowei in WeChat, OPPO's Breeno assistant, Rokid AI glasses, and Guangfan's AI wearables. In Yuanbao, a single phrase allows for route planning, and the one-phrase taxi calling function will soon be launched. Through Xiaowei, a user who sees a store recommendation in a WeChat Channels video can ask about the physical store's location and receive an immediate answer.

For automobiles, Tencent has developed a mapping agent consisting of five agents. These agents are responsible for trip planning, map rendering, ecosystem content, intelligent navigation, and parking guidance. Tencent claims that the system is capable of planning a multi-day family trip between cities with just one request, suggesting nearby restaurants according to user preferences, and using vehicle sensor data and lane level data to make calls in complex traffic conditions in real time.

On wearables, Tencent Map launched, according to their description, the industry's first native taxi calling service on AI glasses in collaboration with Rokid. This feature allows users to book, select, and pay for a vehicle using voice without taking out their phone. A similar taxi calling capability is available on Guangfan's AI headphones. Furthermore, Tencent Map is collaborating with HarmonyOS to transfer mapping functions across devices in the OpenHarmony ecosystem, and with Niu for predictive navigation for electric two-wheeled vehicles based on HarmonyOS.

In September, Tencent Map and OPPO's ColorOS released a travel system agent with memory functionality. Tencent reported that the trip planning process was reduced from nine steps to a single phrase, click-through rates in related scenarios doubled, and user retention for the next day increased by almost 1.5 times.

For developers, Tencent provides access to these capabilities through agent-friendly interfaces, including the MCP server, agent skills, and connectors, as well as through agents like WorkBuddy. Developers no longer need to build integrations from scratch to give their applications the ability to understand the physical world, plan routes, recommend places, and call mobility services.

Tencent Map also introduced LBSwork—an AI map desktop workstation built on the same Harness foundation as WorkBuddy. It provides retail, mobility, and cultural tourism clients with a unified platform to integrate artificial intelligence with mapping data.

Tencent introduces Buddy One, unifying office applications through the WorkBuddy agent and Tencent Drive

At the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit held on October 29th, the company unveiled Buddy One—a system that connects productivity applications for individual users with a unified AI agent. Concurrently, Tencent launched a new cloud storage product called Tencent Drive, designed to function as the storage layer for this agent configuration.

Buddy One integrates tools such as Tencent Docs, Tencent Meeting, Tencent Drive, and the ima knowledge tool, all operating based on the WorkBuddy agent. Users receive a single account for all applications and a shared pool of artificial intelligence credits. Tencent announced that future updates will include shared memory across these applications, along with the addition of new products.

In practice, users connect their accounts via the WorkBuddy PC client, starting from version 5.9.0 or later. After this setup, users no longer need to manually instruct the agent where to search or where to insert context within an application. The query initiates a search across all authorized documents, meeting recordings, and user knowledge bases, and the response indicates which application each source originated from.

Credits acquired or earned in WorkBuddy are converted into Buddy One credits, which are valid across all systems: WorkBuddy, Tencent Docs, ima, and Tencent Drive. The Buddy One VIP plan costs 700 RMB per month and includes premium WorkBuddy level, Tencent Meeting Pro subscription, Tencent Docs premium membership, shared credits, and 1 TB of storage.

Tencent Drive is of particular interest to developers. The company describes it as a cloud storage solution built specifically for agents. In addition to hosting shared storage for WorkBuddy, Tencent Docs, and other Tencent applications, it can connect to supported third-party agents and applications via a Command Line Interface and Model Context Protocol. This allows a user to draft something in one AI tool and continue working on it in another without re-uploading files. The WorkBuddy knowledge base feature already operates based on Tencent Drive.

For enterprise clients, Tencent Drive functions on Tencent Cloud Object Storage, providing end-to-end encryption, offsite disaster recovery, and VPC deployment. Administrators can set granular access rights for both employees and AI tools. Furthermore, Tencent has increased the storage capacity in the corporate version of WorkBuddy from 5 GB to 50 GB per user.

Tencent also announced further expansion of the WorkBuddy architecture, enabling companies to integrate their own agents, third-party agents, and external messaging systems. Dougson Tong, Head of Tencent's Cloud Division, noted that the choice of model, agent, and messenger must remain with the enterprise.

OpenAI expands cloud presence and makes models available on Google Cloud

OpenAI is extending its presence in the cloud sector by integrating its artificial intelligence (AI) models into the Google Cloud infrastructure, which increases the availability of its technologies for developers and corporations.

This new agreement establishes that the GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna models will be available in the Google Cloud Model Garden catalog. This move marks another advancement by the creator of ChatGPT beyond the existing collaboration with Microsoft.

As announced this Wednesday (21), these models are being offered in preview phase to a specific group of enterprise clients. Furthermore, the integration will enable developers to use Google Cloud APIs and link local workflows, such as Codex CLI and Desktop, to the Gemini platform to perform inferences.

This partnership strengthens OpenAI's position among the largest cloud infrastructure providers. Previously, the company had signaled plans to place its models on Amazon Web Services (AWS) after the expiration of Microsoft's exclusivity period over its intellectual property.

Google Cloud will incorporate three OpenAI models into its Model Garden, a catalog that aggregates proprietary, third-party, and open-source offerings. The intention is to give companies the freedom to select the most appropriate technology for each need, considering metrics such as cost, performance, and response speed.

The released models are listed in the announcement. According to Google Cloud, the strategy aims to allow companies to switch between different models according to the requirement of each application, avoiding dependence on a single solution for all tasks. The catalog, which already contains over 200 models, will now offer access to the three main closed-source large language models on a single enterprise AI platform.

The collaboration also includes the commercial listing of OpenAI models on the Google Cloud Marketplace. This means that consumption will be unified in a single Google Cloud invoice, allowing expenses to be allocated to pre-existing cloud commitments or the platform's Flexible Savings Plans. The purpose is to simplify acquisition and allow companies to distribute their workloads across various models without the need for multiple contracts with different vendors.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, stated in a release that the company's goal is to provide a wide range of models so that customers can choose the best option for each activity, prioritizing quality and cost reduction. Greg Brockman, president and co-founder of OpenAI, emphasized the relevance of this partnership in making the company's more advanced models and Codex accessible in the environments where customers already develop their applications.

The announcement also detailed the security and governance safeguards applicable to running OpenAI models on Google Cloud infrastructure. The company guarantees that customer data, including prompts, contexts, and results, will remain within the designated data perimeter and will not be used to train foundational models. Zero Data Retention (ZDR) options are scheduled to be implemented in the future.

OpenAI models will run on dedicated Google Cloud infrastructure. Additionally, future availability of confidential computing resources is anticipated. Traffic will be managed by isolated and protected gateways, while authenticated identity mechanisms, audit logs, and network security controls will allow administrators to monitor interactions with the models and AI agents. These guarantees constitute the conditions established by Google Cloud for the enterprise use of third-party models on its infrastructure.

Although the models are already available in preview version for selected enterprise clients, other integrations are planned. In the coming weeks, OpenAI models are expected to be integrated into Google Antigravity, Google's programming tool, and Gemini for Enterprise, expanding the scope of work for developers and organizations.

OpenAI and Google already had a prior business relationship; last year, the creator of ChatGPT used Google Cloud infrastructure to operate ChatGPT and its API. This expansion of the partnership occurs at a time of growth in Google's cloud business. In the second quarter, the annualized revenue growth of the segment reached approximately 82%, compared to 63% in the first quarter. Meanwhile, AWS registered 37% growth, and Microsoft showed a 42% expansion in the same period. The growing demand for custom chips and AI models boosted Google Cloud.

Founded in 2015, OpenAI emerged partly as an alternative to the concentration of AI research in companies like Google. In 2017, researchers from the organization published an academic paper on the Transformer architecture, fundamental to the advancement of the technology. Subsequently, OpenAI popularized generative AI with the launch of ChatGPT. Currently, the company is seeking investment with a valuation of US$ 1.4 trillion (approximately R$ 7.56 trillion) and plans to conduct an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

With the arrival of the models on Google Cloud, OpenAI diversifies its technological distribution channels, reaching corporate clients through the three major cloud infrastructure platforms.
