Sensex Index Continues to Rise, Increasing by 1030 Points During the Day Due to Six Factors

Amidst the festive mood, benchmark indices began the Diwali week on Wall Street on a positive note. Today marks the third consecutive day of growth for both Sensex and Nifty.

After the indices rose by more than 1200 points in the previous two trading sessions, the BSE Sensex barometer added another 1030 points, representing 1.38 percent, reaching a daily high of 75,489.70 points. Simultaneously, its counterpart on the NSE, Nifty 50, rose by 278 points or 1.20 percent, reaching the mark of 23,330.70 on Monday.

Broader markets also joined this rise on Wall Street, as Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 increased by 0.85–0.95 percent.

By sector, with the exception of Nifty Pharma, all sectoral indices demonstrated positive momentum. Nifty Metal showed the largest gain with a rise of 1.5 percent, while FMCG, PSU bank, and realty each increased by more than 1 percent.

V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Investments Limited, noted that there are clear signs of a turnaround in the Indian market, supported by both external and internal positive signals. He added that the slight decrease in Brent crude oil prices from last week's high of $118 to $110 was a relief. Equally important is the drop in US 10-year bond yields to 4.93 percent. However, perhaps more significant than these external supporting factors is the sharp weakening of the AI trend, which caused Nasdaq to fall by 2.8 percent last Friday. This weakening AI trend benefits India, which is considered an AI counterweight.

What is driving the markets?

There are six key factors behind the stock market's rise:

1. Significant contribution from Reliance Industries

The substantial increase in Reliance Industries by almost 7 percent after publishing second-quarter results that exceeded expectations significantly influenced the rise in benchmark indices. RIL alone contributed 25 percent to the overall BSE Sensex rise of 1000 points today, with the company rising by 400 points. Analysts remain optimistic about this stock and have maintained their 'BUY' ratings, as strong performance in the O2C segment improved revenue forecasts.

2. Decline in oil prices

Oil prices dropped sharply compared to the levels recorded on Friday, improving sentiment towards India, which is the world's third-largest crude oil importer. Peace talks in the war between the US and Iran put pressure on oil prices, with Brent futures falling another 3 percent below $110 per barrel. October oil futures closed at a six-month high.

3. Bets on AI slowdown

India is often positioned as an anti-AI trend, and the decline in euphoria surrounding tech stocks now acts as an additional driver for Indian equities, drawing attention to traditional IT services stocks. After achieving a six-year high in October, when the index heavyweight rose by 18.42 percent, IT sector stocks rose by 2 percent in today's trading session. Overall, the IT index traded higher by 0.8 percent.

4. Visible inflow from FPI

After several weeks of steady selling, foreign portfolio investors (FPI) are showing cautious signs of shifting to buying in Indian stocks. Last week, FPI purchased shares worth 6,300 crore rupees in the money market, although experts believe it is too early to interpret this as a trend reversal.

5. Strength of earnings

Earnings for the current September quarter remain healthy despite price pressures. Jefferies noted in a recent report that the rating upgrade ratio remains above 50 percent for the current quarter. Of the 105 companies analyzed by the global investment bank in its coverage, 56 percent reported results exceeding expectations. Jefferies also noted that our MSCI India earnings estimates for fiscal year 27 were raised by one percentage point to 15 percent as of now during the reporting season, although some major players have not yet published their data.

6. Technical outlook

Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Equity Research at Kotak Neo, stated that the short-term market structure remains positive on technical charts. He reported that the indices formed a long bullish candle on weekly charts, and the formation of a bottom up on daily charts supports a positive short-term forecast. Nevertheless, he noted that the ideal strategy at the current level would be to buy on dips and book profits on rallies. For Nifty, key support levels will be 22,800 and the 20-day moving average around 22,600. Similarly, critical support zones for Sensex are 74,000 and 73,400. Chouhan concluded that as long as the indices trade above these levels, the uptrend is likely to continue.

Stock Market Shows Growth: Mukesh Ambani's Shares and Sensex Index Rise by 1000 Points

The stock market showed significant activity on the first day of the trading week. Following fluctuations last week, the Sensex and Nifty indices demonstrated rapid growth at the opening of trading on Monday.

The Sensex index, comprising 30 shares from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), rose by 1000 points from the opening, surpassing the 75 thousand mark. Meanwhile, the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also accelerated, making a jump of more than 200 points.

Rapid Start for Sensex and Nifty

An analysis of the market rally on Monday shows that the Sensex opened with a gain compared to the close last Friday at 74,459. In just a few minutes, it reached 75,471, an increase of 1012 points. The Nifty index, moving in sync with the Sensex, also showed growth. This index of 50 shares opened above its previous level of 23,053 and then made a sharp jump of 239 points, trading at 23,292.

Reliance Shares Become a Rocket

The largest contribution to the market rally came from the share of Reliance Industries, owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani. Before the article was written, the Reliance share was trading at 1241 rupees with a growth of 6.70%. This rise in the value of the country's most valuable company caused a wave of optimism in the market. Thanks to this growth, the company's capitalization reached 16.77 lakh crore rupees.

The rise in Reliance shares is due to the company's impressive results for the second quarter of the financial year 27. Many brokerage firms gave positive forecasts after these results. During the period from July to September, the company demonstrated excellent performance thanks to business growth in petrochemicals (O2C), digital services, and retail trade. Reliance's consolidated revenue grew by 28% year-on-year, reaching a record 3.62 lakh crore rupees, while EBITDA increased by 24%, amounting to 62,409 crore rupees. Reliance's net profit increased by 34% to 29,550 crore rupees.

Not only did Reliance shares show impressive results, but shares of other large companies also soared at the opening of trading. Among them were Tata Steel Share (growth of 4%), NTPC Share (growth of 3.40%), Maruti Share (growth of 2.80%), BEL Share (growth of 2.40%), and Asian Paints Share (growth of 2.10%). Additionally, in the category of mid-sized companies, Dixon Share (growth of 6.50%), Phoenix Ltd Share (growth of 3.40%), Glenmark Share (growth of 2.80%), Hindustan Petroleum Share (growth of 2.60%), and Suzlon Share (growth of 2.10%) rose.

Fed decision triggers sharp stock market surge: Sensex rises by 600 points

On the fourth trading day, there was a sudden shift in the dynamics of the Sensex and Nifty indices on the stock market. After a slow start to trading, both indices began to rise rapidly. The Sensex index, comprising 30 shares from the Bombay Stock Exchange, jumped by 600 points, while the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange rose by more than 150 points.

This significant growth is linked to events in the US. The stock market opened in the green zone, recovering from the previous day's decline. Although the initial rise was moderate, the situation changed sharply after about an hour, and both indices continued their upward movement at high speed.

The Sensex opened at 73,268, slightly above the previous day's close of 73,246, and then quickly reached 73,862. Similarly, Nifty, starting from a close of 22,690, rose to 22,874.

Among the companies that showed strong growth during this sudden market wave, large corporations were prominent. In the category of large companies on the BSE, stocks such as Adani Ports Share (4.10%), Power Grid Share (4.05%), Kotak Bank Share (3.10%), ITC Share (2.50%), Eternal Share (2.36%), and HUL Share (2.10%), as well as Jio Platforms Share (4.10%), saw gains.

Regarding mid-sized companies, stocks like Apl Apollo Share (3%), Paytm Share (2.90%), and Nykaa Share (2%) demonstrated an increase. Among small companies, growth was noted in Acutaas Share (6.50%), GESHIP Share (5%), Manappuram Share (4.50%), and CUB Share (4.20%).

There are three main reasons explaining this rise in the stock market. One is related to the US. The US Federal Reserve (US FED) announced on Wednesday that it would maintain the current policy rate. Furthermore, there is a decrease in crude oil prices. At the time of writing, the price of Brent Crude fell to $113. Additionally, foreign investor sentiment improved: FPIs made purchases worth about 900 crore rupees in the previous trading day, injecting vitality into the market.

Reliance shares show sharp growth before Jio IPO; Sensex index rises by 800 points

The trading session on the stock market started splendidly on Wednesday. The Sensex and Nifty indices opened in the green zone and then demonstrated rapid growth. The BSE Sensex index, comprising 30 stocks, jumped by more than 800 points just minutes after opening, while the NSE Nifty also followed suit, rising by approximately 200 points.

This strong growth occurred against the backdrop of the upcoming launch of the country's largest IPO. Jio Platforms, owned by Mukesh Ambani, is preparing for an IPO placement worth over 30,200 crore rupees, which supported the overall market rise, causing a surge in the shares of both Reliance and Jio Financial Services.

At the opening of trading, the BSE Sensex started with a strong jump, reaching 74,337.93 compared to the previous closing level of 73,852.90. Its movement then accelerated, and it traded at 74,668, achieving a gain of over 800 points.

As for the NSE Nifty, its dynamics were similar to the Sensex. This index of 50 stocks opened above 23,000, compared to the previous closing level of 22,888.95, and, following the Sensex, rose by approximately 224 points, trading at 23,120.90.

The shares of Reliance Industries, owned by Mukesh Ambani, played a significant role in supporting this vigorous market growth. Since the Jio Platforms IPO opens to retail investors on Wednesday, Reliance shares have been showing impressive growth even before that. At the time of writing, Reliance shares were trading at 1234 rupees, showing a growth of 2.30 percent. Additionally, Jio Financial Services shares were trading at 216.30 rupees, increasing by more than 1 percent.
