Thanks to the influence of the festive season, including Navratri and Dussehra, the Indian automotive market is seeing a significant increase in vehicle purchases, which has brought great benefit to Mahindra & Mahindra. The company recorded its highest monthly sales in October 2026.

In the domestic market, the company sold 73,338 SUVs. Overall, Mahindra's total sales exceeded the mark of 131 thousand units. In October, the company sold 73,338 SUVs in the domestic market, compared to 71,624 vehicles sold in October 2025. Thus, the company's annual SUV sales increased by 2%. Including exports, the total volume of commercial vehicle sales in October amounted to 74,904 units. In total across all automotive segments, Mahindra sold 131,109 vehicles, which is 9% more than last year.

The growth in Mahindra's SUV sales is observed not only in October but also in the first half of the 2026-27 financial year. From April to September 2026, the company's domestic commercial vehicle sales grew by 17%, reaching 431,480 units. In the first half of the previous financial year, this figure was 369,194 units.

Mahindra's commercial vehicle business showed mixed results in October. Demand for Mahindra vehicles is also growing in foreign markets. In October 2026, the company's total export grew by 77% compared to the same period last year, reaching 7,102 units.

Dr. Velusamy R, President of Mahindra's automotive business, noted that October was a historic month for the company, as SUV sales reached 73,338 units and total sales across all segments reached 131,109 units. According to him, demand remains strong in the SUV, pickup, and three-wheeled motorcycle segments due to the festive season and models with new updates. Customers are also positively responding to the company's first CNG model, the XUV 3XO ZNG.

Chinese automaker BYD demonstrates significant sales growth in the Indian market

The Chinese company BYD plans to launch its premium brand Denza into the Indian market. The company's current sales figures demonstrate its activity in this market. In September, the company sold a total of 1137 vehicles, which is a good indicator of growth compared to last year.

Although this figure may seem small when compared to giants like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra, an analysis of the segment, portfolio, and previous sales data for BYD reveals significant progress. The company is actively promoting itself in the Indian market.

According to the report by Auto पंडित्ज, in September of last year (2025), the company delivered 513 vehicles. In September of the current year, this number increased to 1137 units, representing a year-on-year growth of 121.6%. Over this period, the brand sold 624 more cars.

The main driver of growth was the demand for the Sealion 7 and Atto 3 models. These two electric vehicles account for 92% of the company's total sales volume. BYD's portfolio includes four models, with the Sealion 7 being the bestseller, selling 530 units in September. Only 216 such vehicles were sold in September of last year, indicating a year-on-year growth of 145.4% for this model.

The Atto 3 model ranks second in sales, reaching 519 units in September. Last month, 199 Atto 3 units were sold, corresponding to a year-on-year growth of 160.8%. However, Emax 7 sales declined: if 88 units of Emax 7 were supplied in September of last year, this figure was 76 units in September of this year. The least popular model was the BYD Seal, which was supplied in only 12 units.

Currently, BYD does not conduct full vehicle manufacturing in India. The company imports vehicles through CKD or SKD (Completely Knocked Down or Semi Knocked Down) channels and assembles them at its factory in Sriperumbudur, Chennai. Since BYD has not yet received permission for local production for several reasons, the company uses these supply routes, which leads to increased vehicle prices. Denza models may also arrive via this route and will be aimed at luxury segment buyers.

Mahindra introduced the new version of the SUV Bolero Bold with an updated exterior

After a period of teaser announcements, Mahindra has officially released its new SUV model. The Mahindra Bolero Bold Edition was presented, which is not an updated version of the car, but rather a new set of options with some exterior changes.

The Mahindra Bolero model is very popular, especially in second and third-tier cities, where consumers prefer simple vehicles without unnecessary frills. The new Bolero Bold Edition features a bronze accent in its exterior design.

Although the overall design of the Mahindra Bolero remains unchanged—including the aggressive front look, halogen headlights, and metallic bumper grille—the Bold Edition adds styling in bronze color. This styling includes bronze accents at the front, side moldings, bronze alloy wheels, roof rails, black eco-leather seats with bronze elements, and a rear view camera.

Mahindra has not announced the price for this accessory package yet. There is speculation that Mahindra may offer these accessories as a dealer package, which would allow even buyers of the base SUV version to benefit. The price of the Mahindra Bolero itself starts from 8.57 lakh rupees including all charges, and the top configuration costs 9.99 lakh rupees including all charges.

The Bolero Bold Edition uses the same engine as the standard model. The car is equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine that produces 76 hp and 210 Nm of torque. This SUV has rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual transmission. The stated fuel consumption is 16.5 kilometers per liter.

The popularity of this SUV is confirmed by data: in September, Bolero sales increased by 253% compared to the previous year, with 9710 units sold in September 2026.
