The center has extended the mandate of the target group led by Nandan Nilakani, which is engaged in educational reforms, until January 2027. According to information received from government officials, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) plans to hold consultations with state heads and chief secretaries before the panel presents its final recommendations.
During these consultations, some experts and stakeholders proposed considering a hybrid format for NEET-UG 2027. This would allow time to expand the infrastructure required for a full transition to Computer Based Testing (CBT) in 2028.
