Soweto Fashion Week presents Spring/Summer 2026 collections, showcasing South African local design

Following the Autumn/Winter collection show, Soweto Fashion Week has resumed its activities by presenting the Spring/Summer 2026 season. The event will take place from November 5 to 7, 2026, in Jabulani, Soweto.

The Spring/Summer season features open palettes, where designers explore themes of movement, prints, and color. This season recalls the original essence of fashion as South African fashion gains a wider international presence, and demand for local creativity has reached an unprecedented level.

SFW SS2026 will bring together both emerging and established designers from across the country, uniting them with the common goal of demonstrating the look of South African fashion, which speaks for itself.

Day 1 — Presentation of Emerging Designers

The opening evening was dedicated to introducing the faces shaping the future of South African design. Nine emerging designers walked the runway, including RFL Studios, Zimisele, and Shirley Joseph, as well as fashion students from the University of Johannesburg and Tshwane University of Technology.

Day 2 — Main Show

The second night was dedicated to the show by Mbobo Movement, a brand featuring sequins and denim by Lutando Mbobo. He returned to the SFW runway this season after debuting in the emerging designers block for AW2026. His promotion to the main show is one of the key stories of the season. Lutando Mbobo noted: 'Every season is a chance to grow, but this one feels special. Last year, Mbobo Movement received a nomination for Best Emerging Designer at the South African Fashion Awards, and we presented the brand in children's wear at SA Kids Fashion Week. A lot has happened. This summer, we are bringing all of that to the main stage. Expect bold colors, a true celebration of who we are as South Africans, and a collection that carries tangible stories.'

This evening also featured Precious Lulu Couture, KwaZulu Fashion Hut, Originally Kasified, and other brands.

Day 3 — Main Show

The closing evening of the season merged fashion and art. Television presenter Ayanda Nhlapo presented her brand House of Ayanda on the runway. Additionally, Afro-soul and R&B singer Wanda Baloyi showcased her collection Wanda Wear by Wanda Baloyi. Hoss by Sass by Sanele Thabethe, Dope Store, and others also performed at the final show.

Over three days, the Soweto Theatre runway will tell a unique South African story. Each presented collection adds a voice to the discussion about the direction and significance of local design. Tickets are available on Webtickets, with prices starting from 150 rand.

Gen Z Office Fashion: Six Ways to Style Reusable Workwear

Wearing appropriate office attire does not mean that you have to wear only formal shirts and trousers every day. Currently, many workplaces feature a mix of casual and professional clothing. Generation Z also prefers outfits that are both stylish and comfortable. If you want to look smart and professional in the office, you can try these six methods.

The first is to include loose-fitting trousers in your wardrobe. Instead of overly tight pants, you can choose wide-leg or straight-cut trousers. They can be styled with a shirt, a fitted top, or a simple t-shirt. Colors such as black, gray, beige, and dark blue are good options for the office.

The second is to wear shirts differently. A white, blue, or light-colored shirt must be part of the office wardrobe. It can be tucked into trousers or worn unbuttoned over a t-shirt in an informal office setting. By changing how you wear the same shirt, your look will appear slightly different each day.

The third is to maintain style with minimal accessories. You do not need to wear many pieces of jewelry in the office. Small earrings, a watch, a simple necklace, or a good belt can enhance your appearance. Choose items that allow you to work comfortably all day.

The fourth is to choose comfortable shoes. If your office dress code allows it, you can wear clean sneakers, loafers, or ballet flats. It is not necessary to wear high heels or pumps every day. Choose footwear that is easy to walk in and will not cause problems during long periods of standing.

The fifth is to create a smart look through layering. A light jacket, blazer, or cardigan can give even a casual outfit a professional look. Pairing a blazer with a t-shirt and trousers and sneakers can be a good option for a casual office. However, when choosing clothes, you should consider your office dress code.

The sixth is not to be afraid to repeat outfits. You do not have to wear new clothes every day. The same pair of trousers can be combined with different shirts or tops to create numerous looks. This is called mix and match. It helps save money and spend less time getting ready for the office in the morning.

In office fashion, the most important thing is to wear clean, comfortable clothing that suits your work environment. To adopt a style inspired by Generation Z, you do not need to spend money on expensive brands. A professional look can be achieved by styling the clothes already in your closet correctly.
