UK Government Announces New Legal Routes for Refugee Resettlement from India

The UK government has announced three new 'safe and legal' routes for the resettlement of refugees from India and six other countries. These routes allow for sponsorship through charitable organizations, employers, and universities.

The UK Home Office made this decision with the aim of deterring asylum seekers from arriving in Britain via trucks or small boats.

After successful resettlement, refugees will immediately gain the right to work, study, and access social benefits in the UK. Furthermore, they will be provided with a five-year path to permanent residency.
