Intel reports that cheap chips for Wildcat Lake series notebooks are sold out due to high demand

Intel announced that it has sold out the stock of processors belonging to the Wildcat Lake line, which are primarily aimed at mid-range notebooks with more sophisticated technical specifications. Interest in this line, introduced as Core Series 3, has grown due to manufacturers' efforts to mitigate rising memory costs.

This situation was addressed by executives during the disclosure of Intel's financial results. Chief Financial Officer David Zinsner stated that the company observed a considerable increase in demand for these chips, intended for notebooks that do not require the most advanced components.

Some models equipped with this chip use only 8 GB of RAM, a configuration aimed at reducing expenses, although it may restrict performance, according to The Verge. Wildcat Lake is the codename for Intel Core Series 3, positioned by the manufacturer as an alternative for mid-range notebooks. They are below the Core Ultra Series 3, aimed at more powerful equipment, and use the Intel 18A manufacturing process. These models have five or six CPU cores, integrated graphics, and an NPU with up to 17 TOPS capacity.

There are notebooks with these processors available in Brazil, such as the Dell XPS 13, whose suggested price is R$ 8,999, and the IdeaPad Slim 3i, starting at R$ 4,399.99. Both contain the Intel Core 5 320.

The increase in demand for mid-range processors occurs in a context of memory shortage that impacts the entire computer sector. When questioned about component supply, Zinsner informed that Intel does not foresee a substantial improvement next year. He added: 'We will have to see in 2028 if things improve, but our expectation is that it will not improve in 2027.'

Memory chip suppliers have indicated that future production capacity is already being traded. SK Hynix, for example, recently announced that it has sold out the lots planned until 2029, and the South Korean company estimates that this imbalance will persist until 2030.

Lip-Bu Tan attributed this scarcity to the high demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, which consumes an increasing share of component production. According to the CEO, the industry is facing 'one of the most significant component shortages in history,' driven by investments in AI infrastructure.

SK Hynix depletes DRAM and HBM memory stocks and projects scarcity until 2030 due to AI demand

SK Hynix has communicated that almost all of its planned production of DRAM and HBM memories for the next three years has already been committed. Furthermore, the manufacturer anticipates that supply will remain below demand until 2030, a scenario driven primarily by increasing investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

These projections were disclosed on Wednesday, October 28th, during the presentation of third-quarter financial results. This announcement lowers expectations for component price stabilization until 2028, which had been mentioned by competitor Micron in January.

According to the company itself, the existence of long-term contracts already signed and orders in negotiation significantly restricts the available space to meet new requests in the coming years.

Along with SK Hynix, Samsung and Micron had already sold all the memory chips projected for next year. These three companies hold a considerable share of the global production of these components.

In an official statement, SK Hynix informed that it has established long-term supply agreements with fourteen major clients, including some of the largest global cloud computing service providers. These secured contracts cover more than 50% of the total production capacity expected for the years 2027 and 2028.

The situation becomes even more critical when considering the orders still under discussion. The sum of already signed contracts, whose demands are based on concrete purchasing plans, results in DRAM and HBM volumes that are 'effectively exhausted' until 2029.

The manufacturer also finalized volume and price negotiations for HBM for 2027 and expects an increase in both sales and profitability in this segment. After this sectoral growth, the company surpassed Samsung in market value for the first time in June and achieved a record in its debut on the American stock exchange.

The main pressure factor lies in the expansion of data centers and servers dedicated to AI. HBM memory is used in accelerators to enable the transfer of large amounts of data at very high speeds. SK Hynix reported that customer orders for this type of component exceed more than double the currently available supply.

Although the company is investing in expanding its production capacity through new facilities, it emphasizes that, following industry standards, it takes several years for a new factory to start operating, implying that demand will remain higher than supply until 2030.

Meanwhile, the end consumer of electronics must continue to feel the impact of this focus on AI in their spending. DRAM and NAND memories, produced by the three cited companies, are used in computers, smartphones, televisions, smart appliances, and even vehicles equipped with more sophisticated digital systems.

In the smartphone segment, for example, there have been recent increases in the lines of Samsung and Apple, which may intensify next year. Lenovo points out that these companies were preparing since the previous year, and there is no guarantee that prices will return to levels observed in previous periods.

DDR5 RAM memory selection on sale available on Amazon for computer upgrades

If your computer or laptop is experiencing excessive freezing, it might be the ideal time to upgrade your RAM memory. Three options of DDR5 memories that are currently on sale on Amazon have been selected, allowing users to check the specifications of each model and choose the most suitable one for their configuration.

One option specifically aimed at laptops is an XPG module from Adata's line. This component operates in the SODIMM standard, has a frequency of 5600MHz, and consumes only 1.1V, offering good performance without overloading the battery, making it a robust alternative for modernizing DDR5 laptops.

For desktops, the Corsair Vengeance line is recognized as a market standard. This 16GB DDR5 module operates at 5200MHz, features CL40 latency, and is compatible with both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles. It runs at 1.25V and is recommended for high-performance PC builds or upgrades.

The desktop version of the Adata DDR5 RAM is also available, with an 8GB capacity and 5600MHz frequency, CL46 latency. This option is ideal for those who want to start with the DDR5 standard while maintaining a good level of performance, using the standard DIMM format, compatible with the latest market platforms, and efficient for daily use.

Due to the rapid turnover of promotional stock, it is recommended to take advantage of the offers before they end. Consumers should access the provided links, compare the specifications with their motherboard, and take advantage of the discounts while they are active.

DDR5 RAM memory selection on sale on Amazon to improve PC performance

If your computer is slow or if you are looking to increase performance for tasks such as gaming, video editing, or multitasking, upgrading RAM memory is considered one of the most effective enhancements available. Three options of DDR5 modules on sale on Amazon have been selected for users to take advantage of.

The Corsair Vengeance line is recognized as a standard in the desktop computer memory market. One of these modules has a capacity of 16GB, operates at 5200MHz, with latencies of CL40-40-40-77 and consumes only 1.25V, ensuring energy efficiency without compromising performance. It is compatible with AMD Expo and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles, facilitating overclocking with a simple click in the BIOS, making it ideal for those who prioritize stability and speed on modern platforms.

There is another variation of the Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory, also with 16GB and a frequency of 5200MHz. This version features a compact low-profile design, making it an attractive option for cases with space limitations, especially those using bulky cooling systems. Corsair is cited as one of the most reliable brands in this sector, delivering consistency for both daily use and heavier workloads.

For those building a more discreet PC or wishing to add an additional module without incurring large costs, Adata offers an 8GB DDR5 memory that runs at 5600MHz with CL46 latency. Although it has higher latency, the higher frequency compensates well, providing good bandwidth for everyday use. This module represents an accessible entry point into the DDR5 standard, coming from an established brand in the memory segment.

It is important to note that RAM memory promotions on Amazon tend to change frequently throughout the day, so it is advisable to check the links immediately before stock or commercial conditions are changed. A memory upgrade can generate a noticeable improvement in your equipment's performance, so this opportunity should not be missed.
