The Delhi Police has implemented strict safety measures and traffic regulations in the capital in connection with the highly anticipated musical concert of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh. Since the event is scheduled for October 30th at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLN) on Lodi Road, traffic on more than 11 main surrounding streets will be affected.
According to a notification released by the Delhi Police, prohibitions and diversions will be in effect on several routes from noon until midnight. Those planning to travel along these routes on that day are advised to familiarize themselves with road signs in advance and choose alternative routes to avoid congestion.
Significant traffic slowdowns are expected in the vicinity of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and adjacent large areas. The police note that long queues may form on Bishmam Pitamah Marg, Lodi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Arch Bishop Marg, Fourth Avenue Road, Fifth Avenue Road, in the CGO Complex area, and on internal roads of the JLN Stadium.
Furthermore, traffic is being controlled on sections of the Barapullah Flyover, from INA Metro Station to Jangpura Metro Station, as well as on Dayal Singh College Road and internal streets of Lodi Colony.
Diversion points have been established at eight key locations to prevent jams and control crowds. Traffic heading from Lodi Road towards Dayal Singh College will be diverted via the Lodi Flyover instead of proceeding directly; however, the direct route through Lodi Flyover and Aurobindo Marg will remain open. A similar rule applies to traffic coming from Lala Lajpat Rai Marg towards the stadium, which will also be directed towards the Lodi Flyover. The same applies to traffic moving from Sip Road towards Sochna Bhavan.
On the other hand, traffic approaching the JLN Stadium traffic light from Bishmam Pitamah Marg will be diverted towards Meharchand Market and Lodi Colony, bypassing Entrance No. 1 and Kotla Mubarakpur. Traffic arriving from the Kushak Nala bus depot will not be able to reach Entrances No. 3–7 of the stadium; it will be redirected via Fourth Avenue Road towards Lodi Road and Aurobindo Marg from INA. Additionally, vehicles traveling from Lodi Colony to Fifth Avenue Road will be directed towards Johar Bagh Road.
The transport police have prepared two backup diversion points in case of an emergency or increased crowd density. If pressure on the Bishmam Pitamah Marg traffic light near Kotla Mubarakpur increases, traffic heading to the stadium will be diverted via Verma Marg onto Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, and then via a U-turn onto the ring road. Moreover, vehicles heading to the stadium from the Bishmam Pitamah Marg and Lodi Road T-junction may be directed via Arch Bishop Marg, Lodi Flyover, and Madras Aurobindo Marg.
The transport police strongly advise concert attendees to use the metro instead of private cars, as parking around the stadium is unavailable. Metro services on the Violet and Yellow lines will operate normally. Viewers using the Violet line can alight at JLN Stadium or Jangpura stations and walk to Entrances No. 13, 14, and 17. Those arriving via the Yellow line can get off at INA station and take a taxi or auto to Entrances No. 3, 6, and 8 at the Kushak Nala bus depot traffic light.
For those traveling to the stadium by taxi, car, or other vehicles, the police have designated only three pick-up and drop-off points. The first is Arch Bishop Marg, the second is Lal Masjid-Pragyati Vihar, and the third is the Kushak Nala bus depot traffic light. From the Arch Bishop Marg and Lal Masjid-Pragyati Vihar points, viewers can easily reach Entrances No. 13, 14, and 17 of the stadium. From the Kushak Nala bus depot point, it will be convenient to reach Entrances No. 3, 6, and 8.
The transport police have also provided recommendations for residents of different parts of Delhi. People arriving from the northwest, west, southwest, and south parts of Delhi should reach Lodi Road via Aurobindo Marg and alight at Arch Bishop Marg. Residents of the south, east, and southeast parts of Delhi should use the Lal Masjid-Pragyati Vihar point via Lala Lajpat Rai Marg. Furthermore, residents of New Delhi, Central, North, and Northwest Delhi have been advised to leave their vehicles directly before Lodi Road via Arch Bishop Marg.
The transport police emphasized that in the event of any emergency, priority will be given to ambulances and other medical vehicles, and they will always have clear passage. The public is urged to obey traffic rules, not leave vehicles on the roadside, and follow the instructions of personnel on site.
