Vedanta plans to invest $25 billion over three years for organic growth

Senior management of the company announced that the Vedanta group has prepared investments totaling $25 billion for the next three years. These funds will be directed towards expanding the capacities of existing enterprises through organic growth and modernizing current facilities.

Vedanta's founder and chairman, Anil Agarwal, stated that the conglomerate will focus on developing its existing assets but will remain ready to acquire state assets if suitable opportunities arise.

Agarwal specified that the current capital expenditure plans involve organic development in the aluminum, copper, zinc, oil, and gas sectors, with all these expansions representing the modernization of existing production. He emphasized that the total investment amount will be around $25 billion.

These capital investments will also support Vedanta's ambition to become one of the world's largest producers of critical metals and to take a leading position in silver production within three to four years.

According to Agarwal, the group, which consists of 10 major companies, aims to increase its total business volume from $30 billion to $50 billion over three years. He assured that the group's debt burden is at a comfortable level, and current capital expenditures can be financed through internal revenues.

Agarwal noted that the parent holding company, Vedanta Resources, has borrowings of approximately $5 billion against assets valued at over $100 billion. He added that dividends from majority-owned shares and strong cash flows from subsidiaries are more than sufficient to service this debt.

Regarding renewable energy, which Agarwal called a key direction for the group, he reported that Vedanta currently has a capacity of about 5000 MW and plans to add another 5000 MW within the next one to one and a half years. Furthermore, Agarwal stated that the group prioritizes value over profit, giving equal attention to natural resources and technological infrastructure.
