During a fair held in the village of Kotwa, Amati district, Uttar Pradesh state, 102 people suddenly felt unwell after consuming snacks. According to available information, the deterioration of health began after people ate kachori and tikki offered at one of the stalls, which caused panic among those gathered.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, the police immediately took action, registered a complaint, and detained two individuals. Police Station Officer (SP) Sarvannan Ti reported that a case was filed against Rajkumar, who managed the food stall at the fair, and Shiva Kumar, who used cooking oil.
The complaint, filed by Food Safety Inspector Mitun, includes provisions of Section 275 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act. According to the SP, both accused, residing in Mattarwa village, Mohanganj district, have been arrested and are under investigation.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anshuman Singh stated that the village head informed officials about complaints from children and adults regarding vomiting and diarrhea after eating at the fair. Immediately after this, a medical team arrived in the village, which began examining and treating 102 people, including 39 children and 63 adults.
Furthermore, 17 people, including 10 seriously ill children and seven adults, were sent to Tiloi Medical College for further treatment. The CMO assured that all patients are not in danger, and a medical team has been deployed in the village for continuous monitoring.
