On the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere, producer Nimit Malhotra answered questions about his future projects, particularly regarding a possible collaboration with film director SS Rajamouli on the adaptation of 'Mahabharata.'
During a conversation with a critic on the red carpet, when asked about plans following the success of 'Ramayana,' Malhotra joked, noting that 'he is a great director, and I wish him great success.' When directly asked about working on this epic with Rajamouli, Malhotra stated that 'it is time for all of our Indian cinema to achieve success.'
Currently, producer Nimit Malhotra is developing 'Ramayana Part-2' as a large-scale, interconnected mythological cinematic universe. Last week, reports emerged that the producer would soon present a series of spin-offs and other projects. These may include films featuring Sani Deol as Lord Hanuman, as well as projects dedicated to other characters from 'Ramayana,' such as Surpanka, Jatayu, Indrajit, and Angad.
Although Malhotra did not confirm any projects with Rajamouli, both publicly expressed mutual respect, which has fueled speculation among fans about potential future collaborations, especially on 'Mahabharata.'
Recently, Rajamouli praised the scale and ambition of the upcoming film being made by Nitish Tiwari and Malhotra. In response, Malhotra thanked him for the encouraging words, adding that they also aim to take their cinema to a global level. He wished Rajamouli and his team from Varanasi worldwide recognition.
Nevertheless, no official announcement of any collaboration between them has been made yet. Malhotra's film 'Ramayana,' directed by Nitish Tiwari, is scheduled for release in international theaters on November 5, and its second part is set for December 2027.
