A 21-year-old patient died in the city of Karsha following an endoscopic operation to remove a pituitary tumor. Speculation about a possible medical error has arisen on social media, but official bodies have not yet determined the exact cause of her death. According to data from the regional health department, the girl was admitted to the neurosurgery department of the multidisciplinary regional hospital on October 14. The diagnosis given to her was 'pituitary adenoma.' Medical staff reported that for several years, the patient had suffered from symptoms such as difficulty breathing, stunted growth, and thickening of the fingers on her hands and feet. Examinations revealed a large mass in the pituitary gland, and hormone tests showed a significant increase in growth hormone levels.
The tumor removal surgery was performed on October 16 using an endoscopic method through the nasal cavity. A qualified specialist from Tashkent participated in the procedure. After the intervention, the girl was under constant medical supervision. It was officially reported that the examination conducted on October 19 showed no complications.
Nevertheless, on October 20, the patient's condition suddenly deteriorated: her blood pressure rose, and she developed disturbances in consciousness, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems. Despite intensive care, doctors were unable to save the girl, and she passed away on October 26.
After the tragedy became known on social media, theories began circulating linking the death to the unsuccessful surgical intervention.
