Uzbekistan provides support to women in difficult situations abroad: payment for treatment and return

Women from Uzbekistan who face difficulties outside the country can receive various types of support from the Migration Agency. Depending on the specific circumstances, they are assisted with paying for medical services, providing temporary housing, and legal consultations.

Furthermore, the agency helps with the return of earned funds, restoration of necessary documents, or organizing repatriation to the homeland with minor children.

Issues regarding support for women were discussed within the framework of an open dialogue. The event included participation from the Committee on Family and Women's Affairs, the Migration Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, as well as several partner organizations. The dialogue took place simultaneously in thirteen regional and foreign studios, during which a number of problems were resolved on site.

Specific examples of assistance include facilitating the return of citizens to Uzbekistan with children, covering treatment costs for illnesses that arose while working abroad, and finding lawyers to resolve labor disputes. In some cases, material assistance is also provided.

The amount of assistance provided varies depending on its type. Procedures for document restoration and repatriation, including returning with minor children, are carried out free of charge. For medical needs, up to $1,500 can be received; for temporary accommodation, up to $500; and for legal and advocacy services, up to $3,000. A payment of up to $9,000 is also provided for the transportation of a deceased citizen's body back to the homeland.

The list of services also covers assistance in finding high-paying jobs abroad, protecting labor rights, recovering unpaid wages and compensation, and helping with return from deportation centers.

Consultation and assistance can be obtained 24/7 by calling the Migration Agency at 1282. Additional contact channels include the phone number +998 71 202 33 55 (internal 365) and the Telegram bot @HUQUQIY_YORDAM_UZBOT.

This year, the Migration Agency has assisted labor migrants in recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid wages and obtaining hundreds of documents withheld by employers.
