Passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi will no longer be forced to spend large sums on tea, coffee, and snacks. Among the expensive items usually found in airports, passengers can now purchase tea for just 10 rupees, and snacks for 20 rupees.
The UDAN Yatri Café has opened within the airport premises to implement this initiative. The goal of this step is to provide affordable and necessary amenities for air passengers.
The UDAN Yatri Café, launched in the check-in area of Terminal-3 at Delhi Airport, offers everyday food items at reduced prices. Here, tea costs 10 rupees, and coffee is available for 20 rupees. Additionally, bottled water is priced at 10 rupees, and a special snack or daily treat is offered for 20 rupees.
The snack assortment may include options such as samosa, kachori, patji, and vada pav. This is intended to ease the situation for passengers for whom food and drink prices at the airport seem higher than those in a regular market.
It is important to know the location of this café if you are heading to the airport for a flight. The UDAN Yatri Café is located in the Terminal-3 check-in area, not in the departure area after security screening. Therefore, passengers planning to buy inexpensive tea or snacks after going through security should keep this in mind.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation is considering the possibility of opening similar cafes after security screening. However, its implementation depends on the availability of space in the airport, operating conditions, and safety requirements.
The goal of the UDAN Yatri initiative is to provide basic food options to air passengers at low prices. By May 2026, this program will cover 25 airports across the country, including major hubs such as Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, as well as smaller city airports.
The launch of this service in Delhi is expected to make life easier for passengers, especially those traveling with family or wishing to have tea, coffee, or a snack before their flight.
