Apple has made a significant announcement by launching the new MacBook Pro model to the market. This new version will be available alongside existing models, with the company adding new features such as OLED display and touchscreen support.
The main feature of the new MacBooks launched by Apple is the display, which is named PROLED XDR display. It is based on OLED technology, which was previously seen in iPad Pro models. This display achieves a peak brightness of up to 2000 nits. Furthermore, the display panels of the new MacBook Pros offer various refresh rates, ranging from 10Hz to 120Hz, and include P3 and Adobe RGB color coverage.
This is the first time Apple has provided touchscreen display support in any Mac device, offering users a new experience for using apps and content. However, it should be noted that this feature does not include pen support.
Another major change in the display relates to the notch, where Apple has incorporated the Dynamic Island. Currently, Face ID support is not available on the MacBook Pro; only Touch ID is offered for secure login and authentication.
Apple has also improved the design to make the device thinner and lighter. The new MacBooks have been made a few millimeters smaller all around, and their weight has also decreased compared to before, now ranging from 200 grams to 300 grams less. Changes have also been made to the internal thermal design, causing hot air to flow in another direction instead of exiting.
Despite all these changes, Apple has maintained variants of the M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets. Memory and storage options remain unchanged, and there are no changes to connectivity or battery life.
The price for the PROLED XDR range of Apple's new MacBook in the 14-inch size is set at ₹349,900, available with M5 Pro and M5 Max chip variants. Meanwhile, the 16-inch screen size of the PROLED XDR is priced at ₹4,09,900, and the M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets will also be sold at this price point.
