Uzbekistan Delegation Discussed Transformer Production in Uzbekistan with Oman's Voltamp

The Uzbek delegation held negotiations with the Omani company Voltamp Energy regarding the possibility of establishing high-voltage transformer production in Uzbekistan, as well as localizing the manufacture of key components with the participation of Nura Group.

According to the Uzeltехsanoat association, these discussions took place during the delegation's visit to Oman.

The delegation included Bakhtiyor Khaydarov, Director of the Agency for Industrial Cooperation and State Procurement; Mirziyod Yunusov, Chairman of the Uzeltеkhsanoat association, as well as representatives from industrial enterprises.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Voltamp Power SAOC plant in Sohar city, where they familiarized themselves with the technologies for manufacturing high-voltage transformers, quality control systems, and the company's experience in component localization.

Following the factory visit, negotiations were held with Sayeed Ayman bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Voltamp Energy, and the company's CEO, Muhammad Ajmal Basha.

This visit followed a meeting between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Al Busaidi, which took place on October 16. At this meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of solar energy and high-voltage transformer production.

Six solar and wind power plants to be put up for open tenders in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan plans to put six solar and wind energy facilities up for open tenders, with a total capacity of 2.2 thousand megawatts. Furthermore, the authorities intend to proactively determine the needs of various regions for new generation sources and disclose the conditions for connecting to the power grids, which will allow investors to plan their projects more accurately based on existing infrastructure.

This information was announced during an open dialogue between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and representatives of the investment community in the fuel and energy sector.

Previously, in the early stages of green energy development, the placement of stations largely depended on proposals from the investors themselves. This led to capacities being concentrated in specific locations, which in turn increased the costs of transporting electricity to other regions.

Consequently, preliminary determination of the required capacity for each region will now take place. Following this, the relevant projects will be presented at open tenders. The tender documentation must contain information about the land plot area, the connection point to the energy system, the deadlines for completing the work, and the terms for purchasing electricity.

The introduction of unified requirements for all participants is intended to increase the transparency of the investor selection process and minimize risks associated with both the payment for generated energy and the fulfillment of contractual obligations.

As part of the new strategy, the development of a National General Energy Development Plan, calculated until 2050, is also planned. According to the schedule, the map of potential connection points to the power grids should be presented by March 1st of next year, and the full general plan by July 1st. These documents must clearly show areas of expected electricity demand growth, required infrastructure solutions, and optimal locations for placing new energy capacities.
