Haier to present new products in Johannesburg, merging innovation and football

Global home appliance manufacturer Haier plans to hold a new product presentation in Johannesburg on October 29th. The event will focus on showcasing its range of household appliances for the South African market and presenting the company's development plans in the country. The event will unite the global strength of the Haier brand, innovative technology, and international football partnerships, emphasizing the brand's focus on the needs of local households and consumers in South Africa.

Haier officially entered the South African home appliance market in February 2026. According to Euromonitor International data on retail volumes, Haier has held the top spot in sales volume for global major home appliances for 17 consecutive years (from 2009 to 2025). Since entering the market, the company has continuously expanded its product portfolio, strengthened retail relationships, and developed local service capabilities, aiming to provide local residents with a higher quality user experience through innovation and design based on everyday needs.

The presentation will feature refrigerators from the Horizon and Flexmo series, the MultiWash washing machine, and the QLED television. The Horizon series refrigerators are designed for daily food storage and domestic use, while the Flexmo series offers more options for various living spaces and lifestyles. The MultiWash washing machine uses a more flexible approach to sorting and washing different loads, and the QLED television enhances home viewing and entertainment with rich color.

Warranty coverage depends on the product type and motor according to the official Haier South Africa warranty policy. Refrigerators have a general five-year product warranty, including parts and labor. Inverter compressors are covered by a lifetime warranty on spare parts, while labor is charged separately, and non-inverter compressors have a five-year warranty. For washing machines, models with front and top loading and a DD motor provide a five-year comprehensive warranty, whereas models with inverter or conventional motors have a three-year comprehensive warranty. Motor part warranties are specific: they are lifetime for DD motors, 20 years for inverter motors, and five years for conventional motors; labor for warranty motor repairs is charged separately. Model compliance and all conditions are governed by the official Haier South Africa warranty policy.

Football serves as an important link between cultures, countries, and communities. Haier continues to leverage its global sports partnerships to find more engaging ways to interact with consumers. Global football partnerships with Liverpool FC (LFC) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) allow Haier to engage with international football fans and consumers. Through football culture, fan interaction, and brand experience, Haier seeks to create a more natural connection between global sporting events and the domestic scenarios served by its appliances.

In September 2026, Haier also announced its intention to become a Global Partner of the UEFA Champions League starting from the 2027/28 season. This partnership further expands Haier's opportunities to communicate with consumers worldwide through international football, reflecting the brand's continuous commitment to strengthening its global presence. In South Africa, Haier aims to connect the brand's global resources with the local consumer experience. Through product demonstrations, interactive events, and retail partnerships, the brand wants consumers to understand its global capabilities and appreciate the value of its goods and services.

The new product presentation on October 29th will gather media representatives, retail partners, and industry guests to showcase Haier's latest offerings, brand direction, and long-term commitment to the South African market. As local business develops, Haier will continue to respond to the daily needs of South African households and explore further connections between technology, products, and lifestyle.

Godrej Properties plans to launch projects worth ₹32,000 crore in the second half of FY27

Godrej Properties Ltd (GPL), a real estate division of Godrej Industries Group, announced a combined portfolio of projects valued at over ₹32,000 crore for the second half of fiscal year 27. This was stated by Managing Director and CEO Gaurav Panday during a conference call on the company's quarterly results for September.

Panday stated that the company is highly confident that both the third and fourth quarters will be very promising, given the accumulated launch pipeline for the second half.

Discussion on Land Acquisitions

Regarding land acquisitions, Godrej Properties Ltd Chairperson Piradja Godrej emphasized that the company will only consider new projects if they meet established profitability thresholds. She specified that business development will proceed only upon meeting profitability metrics such as 20% IRR and a booking margin to net profit of 15%.

Despite future plans, GPL reported a 62% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for the September quarter, amounting to ₹154 crore compared to ₹405 crore in the second quarter of the previous fiscal year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) also decreased by 72%, reaching ₹171 crore against ₹614 crore in Q2 FY26.

Nevertheless, GPL's total revenue increased by 38%, reaching ₹2,575 crore compared to ₹1,867 crore in the same period last year. The company registered sales of ₹8,000 crore in the second quarter, and the booking value for the first half ending in September grew by 7% year-on-year to ₹16,659 crore, marking the highest first-half booking value achieved by Godrej Properties.

Commenting on the second-quarter results, Godrej noted that while some revenue and booking figures may appear modest, the second quarter was a very strong operational period. This was driven by sales growth under the Godrej Trilogy program in Mumbai, Godrej Vanantara in Bangalore, and Godrej Samaris in Gurugram, each contributing over ₹500 crore to sales in the quarter. Additionally, the Godrej Brooklyn Avenue project in Hyderabad, launched closer to the end of the first quarter, also brought in over ₹500 crore in bookings.

The company reported that although GPL launched only one-third of its planned annual launch volume in the first half of FY27, it still achieved 43% of its annual booking forecast. Godrej added that the project portfolio has never been this strong, and with a significant increase in launches starting from the current month, the company remains confident in exceeding the annual forecast across all key operating metrics.

Projects worth over ₹32,000 crore are expected to be launched in the second half of FY27. Godrej stated that the second half of the current fiscal year will be the best period for both launches and sales. GPL achieved record collections in the second quarter and the first half, with collections growing by 31% year-on-year in Q2 FY27 to ₹5,318 crore and by 25% in H1 FY27 to ₹9,666 crore. Operating cash flow in the second quarter increased by 297% quarter-on-quarter and by 33% year-on-year, reaching ₹1,584 crore.

Godrej also noted that FY28 is an important year for the company, when the exceptional growth of recent years will become evident in the reporting once projects are completed. The company expects to achieve positive free cash flow and 20% return on equity (ROE) in FY28. Furthermore, Godrej reported that GPL is focused on generating strong cash flow and forecasts receipts of ₹15,000 crore and operating cash flow of ₹7,000 crore in the second half of FY27.

Hyundai Bayon SUV is preparing for launch, technical specifications and options revealed

The Hyundai Bayon, which is set to hit the market next week, has already received numerous preliminary details from the company even before the official start of sales. The globally presented Hyundai Bayon plans to debut in India on October 26.

The company has provided details regarding the engine and transmission of this vehicle. A 1.5-liter atmospheric engine will be used. This four-cylinder engine with an MPI fuel system for the gasoline variant is capable of producing 115 horsepower and 143.8 Nm of torque.

Buyers will have the choice between a six-speed manual transmission and Hyundai's IVT transmission. When using the IVT transmission, the car will be equipped with Dash Boost mode, designed to increase acceleration, for example, when overtaking other vehicles. The company claims that this system will provide instant response when needed.

Furthermore, the Hyundai Bayon will feature sport driving technology. One of the key aspects of choosing the 1.5-liter MPI engine is its proven reliability: since 2020 until now, over six hundred thousand cars have been sold with this engine, including Venue and Creta models.

The car will be available in three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. The Eco mode is aimed at improving fuel efficiency, while Normal ensures balanced performance. The Sport mode allows for aggressive car response. Switching between these modes will be done using a dedicated button on the steering wheel.

The Bayon will also be equipped with paddle shifters, which will enhance the driving experience. The configuration of the gasoline variant with the IVT transmission was designed considering both dense urban traffic and high-speed highway driving, ensuring smooth power delivery. Currently, reservations for the car are open at Hyundai dealerships and on the official website.

Reservations for this SUV can be made for 11 thousand rupees. Hyundai will announce the final prices for this model on October 26. There is a speculation that the company might offer a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) version, although this has not been confirmed yet. If such a version appears, it will be the first SUV from Hyundai over 4 meters equipped with CNG.
