Cape Verde Tourism Focuses on Improving Inter-Island Connectivity to Distribute Tourist Flows

The State Secretary for Tourism of Cape Verde stated that the priority for the tourism sector is ensuring connectivity between islands so that tourists can move freely throughout the country.

José Pimenta Lima noted during a panel discussion at the 2nd Forum of African Portuguese-Speaking Business, concluding in Cape Verde, that the main goal is to enhance island connectivity. This will allow for the redistribution of the entire flow of visitors arriving at the two main centers of the country—Sal and Boa Vista—where most hotels are concentrated.

The country, consisting of ten islands (nine inhabited), faces chronic difficulties in maintaining reliable domestic air and sea routes, despite repeated government promises to resolve these issues.

Simultaneously, the government advocated for creating proposals that attract tourists to other islands, as the number of self-guided travelers is growing alongside the expansion of low-cost flights.

Lima cited sport fishing as an example of an activity that attracts visitors with high economic potential. Diversification across islands is considered a critically important measure for evenly distributing income throughout the archipelago.

The State Secretary emphasized that Cape Verde aims not only to increase tourism but also to ensure that more benefits from tourism return to the country itself.

António Baptista, Minister of Economy, added that the country is at a 'turning point,' and tourism can no longer be viewed solely as attracting guests. He specified: 'Tourism is not people; it is a flow of consumption, money that circulates.'

Cape Verde is demonstrating tourism growth, reaching a record of 1.25 million visitors in 2025, and this sector accounts for 25% of the gross domestic product (GDP). However, other sectors, such as agriculture, are not keeping pace to meet the regular needs of hotels.

Baptista noted that the current task is to organize local content so that producers understand the required quality level, while the state must provide incentives.

According to António Baptista, the ultimate goal is to achieve a 'virtual circle' in the economy, where tourism generates revenue for the state treasury through direct taxes and also enriches the pockets of workers who spend money in local shops.

Due to the growth in tourism, especially on the islands of Sal and Boa Vista, where resorts and most visitors are located, there is huge demand for infrastructure and labor.

Pimenta Lima announced that the government is preparing housing programs for sector workers arriving from other islands, as well as strengthening water and energy supplies, since these resources may soon become insufficient.

Both government representatives pointed to public-private partnerships as one way to finance investments. Albert Pascual, Director of Institutional Relations for the hotel group RIU, stated that 'public-private cooperation in Cape Verde works, but it does not work in Spain.'

Infrastructure is one of the four pillars, he said, that justifies the brand's investment in the archipelago, alongside location, culture, and security (institutional and political).

The African Portuguese-Speaking Business Investment Forum, which began on Monday and concludes today on the island of Sal, is organized by the IFC, a World Bank Group member focused on the private sector. According to updated IFC data, over the past five years, this organization has mobilized approximately $1.2 billion (about one billion euros) in 10 projects in Portuguese-speaking African countries.

How to make collagen gel with Vitamin C from lemon and flaxseeds for radiant skin

Over time, wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of skin elasticity become a source of concern for many women. Anti-aging creams and collagen-boosting products available in stores are often very expensive, creating a financial burden, and the chemicals in them can harm the skin.

However, it is known that a completely natural and Vitamin C-rich collagen gel can be made at home using a superfood found in flaxseeds and lemon. This gel helps improve skin elasticity, making it look younger and more radiant. Below is a simple instruction on how to prepare it.

The following ingredients are needed for preparation: 3-4 tablespoons of flaxseeds, 1–1.5 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice (for Vitamin C), 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel (for smooth texture and hydration), 1 Vitamin E capsule (optional, for skin nourishment), and ½ teaspoon of almond oil or glycerin (to eliminate dryness).

In a saucepan, bring 1.5 cups of water together with the flaxseeds to a boil over medium heat, simmering for 7 to 10 minutes while stirring occasionally. As soon as the water begins to thicken and take on a gel consistency, turn off the heat.

Immediately after this, strain the hot mixture through cheesecloth or a sieve into a glass container. Straining is essential before the mixture cools down, as it becomes very thick and difficult to extract when cold.

When the transparent flax gel is slightly warm or cool, add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice (rich in Vitamin C), 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel, and the oil from the Vitamin E capsule. Mix all ingredients thoroughly with a spoon or whisk until a smooth, creamy serum or gel is obtained.

Your natural Vitamin C collagen gel is ready. It can be stored in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator for 10–15 days.

Before use in the evening, thoroughly cleanse and wash your face with a facial cleanser. Then, apply a small amount of the collagen gel to the face and neck. Massage it gently in circular motions for two minutes to allow it to penetrate deeply into the skin.

Leave the gel on the face overnight and rinse off with plain water in the morning. For best results, it is recommended to use the product daily.

Hair care tips to protect strands from humidity on rainy days

Even with rain forecasted, it is necessary to leave the house, and humidity can significantly affect hair. Only a few minutes of exposure to humidity are enough for strands to start frizzing, increasing in volume, and losing alignment, a common problem for those with straight or straightened hair, especially when drizzle turns into heavy rain.

However, the impact is not limited to direct contact with water; atmospheric humidity also interferes with the hair structure, potentially compromising the hairstyle even indoors. Fortunately, simple adjustments can mitigate these effects and prolong the durability of the styling, requiring an understanding of how the weather affects the strands and the use of specific products, such as the Blindagem H2O Evolution line, designed to control frizz and promote alignment.

The Blindagem H2O Evolution line uses macadamia oil and hair shielding technology to help control frizz and protect the strands.

Why does hair get frizzy on rainy days?

Hair is highly sensitive to environmental variations, with humidity being a main factor. When the air is loaded with humidity, the hair fiber tends to absorb water molecules, which causes temporary modifications in the bonds responsible for defining the strand's shape. For this reason, a style done with a brush may fall apart more quickly during rainy days.

This phenomenon is more noticeable in dry or damaged hair, as these have a more irregular surface and have greater difficulty maintaining a homogeneous appearance, resulting in flyaways and changes in volume. Although it is impossible to completely eliminate climatic influence, keeping the fiber hydrated and using appropriate finishers helps manage these effects.

Prepare your hair before leaving the house

Defense against humidity should begin during showering. A proper wash eliminates excess oiliness and accumulated residues, while conditioning helps reduce friction between the strands and improves alignment.

For those seeking to maintain a straight look, the Blindagem H2O Evolution line combines macadamia oil with hair silicone. Macadamia oil, rich in fatty acids such as omega 7 and 9, has emollient and conditioning qualities. Simultaneously, the mix of silicones forms a barrier on the hair surface, helping to reduce frizz and maintain an aligned hairstyle.

The Blindagem shampoo performs the necessary cleansing, preparing the strands for the following steps. Subsequently, the Blindagem conditioner seals the cuticles and reduces friction between the fibers, promoting a more uniform finish without harming natural movement. Another crucial point is to avoid going out with wet hair, as water in the strands can extend the time needed for them to reach the desired shape.

Opt for extra protection against humidity

If your hair easily loses its alignment, it is recommended to incorporate an additional treatment into your washing routines. The Blindagem H2O Evolution treatment mask was designed to act on the surface of the hair fiber, offering conditioning and supporting cuticle sealing. Its composition aims to improve the appearance of damaged areas, leaving the strands more controlled.

Application must strictly follow the frequency and time specified on the packaging, serving as a complement to the usual treatment without overloading the length with excess product. In the finishing phase, the Blindagem thermal protective spray is a great help for those who use a dryer or flat iron, as it establishes a protective layer over the strands, minimizing the impacts of heat and ensuring a smooth finish.

If you use heat tools, it is essential to ensure that the hair is completely dry before applying the flat iron, as using the appliance on wet strands can cause damage to the fiber.

Got your hair wet in the rain? Know what to do

Even with an umbrella, it is difficult to completely avoid splashes. If the hair gets wet, the drying technique makes a difference. You should avoid vigorously rubbing the towel to remove water, as this movement intensifies friction and can cause frizz. It is preferable to gently press the fabric against the strands to absorb excess moisture.

If you need to redo the style, wait until the hair is dry before using any heat tool. It is not necessary to wash the hair immediately just because of light splashes on the ends. To restore the finish of the ends, a small amount of the Blindagem H2O Evolution finishing silicone oil can be useful. This product, developed specifically for straight hair, provides shine and helps control misaligned strands while maintaining lightness.

You should start by applying a little product and distributing it on the ends, avoiding the roots, which allows you to improve the appearance of the style without making the hair heavy. H2O Evolution offers an online hair diagnosis to help users identify their strands' needs and choose the most suitable products, in addition to encouraging following the brand on social media for more hair care tips.
