Ragi Samosa Recipe: Prepare Healthy and Crispy Samosas from Ragi Flour

Samosas always whet the appetite, especially when hot, filled with potato, which is pleasant to eat with tea. However, if you are tired of samosas made from wheat or regular flour, try ragi samosas.

Samosas are one of the most beloved snacks in India. They are served with evening tea and to guests at home. They are usually made from wheat or semolina flour and filled with a spicy potato filling. If you want to diversify your diet, ragi samosas will be an excellent choice.

These samosas, made from ragi flour, are distinguished by their taste, and the filling of potatoes, peas, cashews, and raisins makes them special. Ragi also contains nutrients such as calcium and fiber. They can be served with evening tea or offered to guests. The recipe for making ragi flour samosas and a list of necessary ingredients are presented below.

To begin, sift the ragi flour into a bowl. Add a little water and mix thoroughly to avoid lumps. Heat the mixture in the microwave for 30-40 seconds, then let it cool. After that, knead a firm dough, adding more ragi flour, cumin, and salt as needed. Cover the dough and leave it for some time.

Next is preparing the filling. Heat a little oil in a saucepan and fry the cumin seeds. When the cumin starts sizzling, add ginger, green pepper, cashews, and raisins and fry for 1-2 minutes. Then add the chopped cucumber, turmeric powder, boiled peas, and potatoes, and mix well. Add salt to taste and cook for 3-4 minutes. Finally, stir in fresh coriander and mint leaves. Let the filling cool.

Take small pieces of dough, roll them out, and give them an oval shape. Then cut them in half down the middle. Apply a little water to the edges and join both ends, forming a cone. Fill it with the prepared filling and seal the edges carefully.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the samosas over medium heat until golden brown. Then place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Your hot ragi samosas are ready. They can be served with green or ginger sauce.

If you prefer to make samosas with less oil, they can be baked in the convection mode of a microwave. To do this, lightly brush the samosas with oil and bake in the microwave until golden brown.

Ragi contains nutrients such as calcium and fiber, making it a healthier alternative to semolina samosas. Furthermore, the peas, potatoes, and other ingredients added to the samosas enhance their flavor. If you want to prepare something new for a daily snack, ragi samosas can be the best option.
