BRT line construction has begun in Tashkent on Amir Temur and Yangi Sergeli streets

The construction of two more segments of the dedicated BRT bus line has started in the city of Tashkent—on Amir Temur Avenue and Yangi Sergeli Street.

Construction work is being carried out in the central part of the roadway, while traffic movement in both directions is maintained on the remaining lanes.

The Center for Traffic Management has appealed to drivers to take into account possible difficulties in movement and, if possible, use alternative routes.

The first phase of work covers a section of Amir Temur Avenue measuring 1.4 km (from the intersection with Ahmad Donish Street to Shahristan Street) and 1.4 km of Yangi Sergeli Street (from the intersection with Choshtepa Street to the SOUEAST service center).

Currently, the construction of the BRT line on Shahrisabz Street is ongoing. After combining all planned sections on the mentioned streets, a single route will be formed, passing through Yangi Sergeli, Shota Rustaveli, Shahrisabz, and Amir Temur.

Previously, the capital's hokimiyat had informed about plans to also include Mukimi Street, Karatash Street, and Kukcha Darvoza Street, as well as Parkent and Mirza Ulugbek Avenue, in the BRT system.

New section of BRT rapid bus line commissioned in Tashkent

An additional segment of the dedicated lane for rapid bus transport (BRT) has been commissioned in the city of Tashkent, spanning approximately one kilometer.

Thanks to this new section, the total continuous rapid bus route on Shota Rustaveli and Shahrisabz streets has reached nearly eight kilometers. According to information provided by the Road Traffic Organization Center, this new segment runs along Shahrisabz street, starting from the intersection with Amir Temur Avenue and ending at Makhtumkuli Street.

The location of this section is between the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and City Maternity Complex No. 6. These dedicated lanes occupy the central part of the roadway, allowing buses to move separately from the general traffic flow.

The introduction of BRT is expected to reduce waiting time in traffic jams, increase movement stability, and improve the predictability of journey duration.

City authorities plan to create a unified transport corridor connecting the Sergelyi and Yunusabad districts. Information about further sections and potential traffic adjustments will be provided by the city later.

It should be noted that the previous construction of the BRT on Shahrisabz street led to temporary changes in the routes of five buses: No. 2, 26, 37, 68, and 93, for which detours were organized along neighboring streets.

New bus routes will be launched in Tashkent region connecting Nazarbek and other districts with the capital

Residents of Nazarbek and adjacent territories will find it easier to travel to Tashkent thanks to the planned launch of new bus routes. These routes will provide connections between the Tashkent and Zangiati districts with the capital.

According to information provided by the Main Directorate of Transport and Road Transport Infrastructure Development of Tashkent, the new lines will operate based on a gross contract system that takes into account the actual number of passengers.

New routes and their directions

The following routes have been introduced: Route No. 162, which will run between Kushkundi mahalla and the Chorsu trade center bus station; Route No. 163, connecting Tekstilschiki mahalla with the Chorsu trade center bus station; and Route No. 167, linking the 'Tashkent' collective farm with the Chorsu trade center bus station.

Special emphasis is placed on Route No. 163. It will pass through Tekstilschiki mahalla, Nazarbek, and the Tarnov territory, as well as along Shifobakhsh Suvlar and Beruni streets.

Representatives of the department believe that the introduction of these routes will improve transport accessibility for residents of the Tashkent and Zangiati districts when traveling to the capital. Furthermore, this should contribute to reducing bus waiting times and achieving a more balanced distribution of passenger flow.

To ensure the operation of the new lines, 54 buses manufactured in China by ZHONGTONG are planned for use. These buses are expected to arrive by the end of November 2026. It was previously noted that the coverage rate of mahallas by public transport in Uzbekistan has reached 98.8%.
