Temporary restrictions have been placed on road traffic on parts of Yangi Sergeli and Amir Temur streets in Tashkent due to the construction of dedicated lanes for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
According to a statement from the capital's Traffic Department press service, the restrictions came into effect on October 25. The construction work covers a total length of 2,798 meters, which is almost 2.8 kilometers.
On Yangi Sergeli street, work is being carried out on a section measuring 1,368 meters, located between the intersection of Yangi Sergeli and Choshtepa streets and the SOUEAST service center building.
On Amir Temur street, restrictions are in place on a 1,430-meter stretch situated between the crossing on Ahmad Donish street and the intersection with Shahriston street.
Central authorities emphasized that the streets will not be completely closed. The work is being conducted in the area where special lanes for buses will be organized in the future, while other lanes will remain open to cars.
Nevertheless, during construction, traffic slowdowns and temporary inconveniences are possible. Drivers are advised to plan their travel time in advance, observe temporary road signs, and use alternative routes if necessary.
Specific deadlines for lifting the restrictions have not been announced. Previously, on October 24, a new BRT lane approximately one kilometer long was opened on Shahrisabz street, bringing the total length of the continuous bus line on Shota Rustaveli and Shahrisabz streets to nearly 8 kilometers.
