Liverpool defeated Brighton 2-0, Isak continues goalscoring streak

Alexander Isak continued his scoring run in the match between Liverpool and Brighton, which ended with a 2-0 victory for the 'Reds' on Sunday. Liverpool manager Anđoni Iraola celebrated his first success in the Premier League at Anfield.

Iraola's team scored twice in the first half: first a goal from Pascal Groß, followed by one from Isak. This season, Isak has scored six goals in seven league matches and has scored three goals in the last four games.

The Swedish forward, who experienced a difficult debut season after his high-profile transfer from Newcastle, is finally starting to justify his £125 million ($167 million) outlay.

For Iraola, this was a pleasant first taste of success in the top division at Anfield, as he had not won any of the first three league matches at the stadium after joining from Bournemouth at the start of the season.

The Spaniard, who previously achieved success in the Champions League and FA Cup at Anfield, led Liverpool to four consecutive victories in all competitions following a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Liverpool moved up to fourth place, just one point behind third place held by Brighton, after the 'Seagulls' suffered their second league defeat this season. The 'Reds' are six points behind leaders 'City', aiming for a possible championship title.

Previously, Liverpool had not won five consecutive home league matches, including last season when they drew four times and lost once. However, they confidently beat Brighton, halting the recent goal fest of the visitors, who arrived at Anfield as the league's top scorers.

Brighton could have scored early when Diego Gomes' pass was deflected by Virgil van Dijk, and Groß crossed to Yasin Ayari, who shot inaccurately wide of the goal, having a chance to score.
