The CEO and Managing Director of HCL Technologies (HCLTech), C Vijayakumar, noted that the technology industry has reached a new 'inflection point' thanks to artificial intelligence. He emphasized that the future does not necessarily depend on the largest companies, but on those who are ready to constantly reinvent themselves.
These remarks were made in a LinkedIn post marking ten years since he took the helm of the major IT services company. Vijayakumar believes that a decade in the technology sector is a long period during which industries have undergone transformations, business models have been disrupted, and the boundaries of what is possible have shifted repeatedly.
Looking to the future, he linked his company's development trajectory to the current moment of AI. He wrote: 'Today, as AI transforms our industry, we are once again at an inflection point.'
He also expressed a firm conviction that the future belongs not necessarily to giants, but to those who continuously strive for self-improvement. Vijayakumar added that this confidence has never been stronger, and he is convinced that 'the best of HCLTech is yet to come.'
Reflecting on his tenure, Vijayakumar stated that he inherited a strong company and a strong corporate culture. Over more than ten years, HCLTech has developed into a global enterprise with a workforce of over 225,000 people, expanding into new markets and business areas, and winning the trust of some of the world's most respected enterprises.
He noted that the results of this work are well known. However, what comes to mind first are not achievements, financial figures, or awards, but people: colleagues, clients, and his family who supported him throughout these ten years. In his opinion, companies are created through strategies and investments, but they exist because of their culture, values, and people.
Addressing leadership issues, he stated that the essence is not in having all the answers, but in the ability to ask better questions, feel comfortable in a team that challenges your ideas, make difficult decisions, and create an environment where employees can realize their best professional potential.
