Thunderstorms with rain occurred in several areas of Delhi-NCR on Saturday night. These downpours, accompanied by strong winds, suddenly altered the weather conditions and led to a drop in temperature. Rain was observed not only in Delhi but also in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. Reports of hail falling in some parts of Delhi and Noida were also received.
After the rains began across the Delhi-NCR region, cool winds blew throughout the area. This sharp transition from relatively warm weather in recent days to rain caused a feeling of coolness among residents. There is a possibility that the rain may continue in some areas over the next few hours.
The weather deteriorated not only in Delhi-NCR but also in some parts of Haryana state. Hail-bearing rains occurred in Hisar. Strong winds and thunderstorms changed the atmosphere in many places. These changes are not limited to Delhi-NCR; the probability of thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds is expected in many regions of North and Central India in the coming days.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings about storms and rain in several states.
Rains in Delhi-NCR have also raised hopes for improved air quality. In recent days, the air quality in Delhi was in the poor category. On Saturday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was 191, which was better than 230 the day before.
A slight decrease in pollution levels is expected after the rains and strong winds. Nevertheless, due to weather changes, the air situation may remain unstable in the coming days. The weather in different parts of the country may change over the next few days, with the possibility of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in various areas of North, Central, and South India. Some places may experience light rain, while others may face heavy precipitation.
