The state of Goiás has been placed under yellow alert due to the forecast of storms accompanied by hail this weekend, according to information provided by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). Despite the risk of rain, the Meteorological and Hydrological Information Center of Goiás (Cimehgo) predicts temperatures of up to 40°C for the northern part of the state during this period as well.
The yellow alert will begin on Sunday, covering the Metropolitan, South, and Southwest regions, and is expected to intensify throughout the week. On Saturday, there is an expectation of irregular rainfall, as observed in Luziânia, which had already recorded 26 millimeters until the last update released by the report, according to Cimehgo manager, André Amorim, to g1.
On Monday, the yellow alert will extend throughout the entire territory of Goiás. According to the Institute's data, storms are expected to increase on Tuesday, with a special focus on the Federal District Surroundings Region.
André Amorim explained that the combination of heat and high humidity is the factor generating areas of instability. Additionally, there is a forecast for the arrival of a new cold front starting on Sunday.
The specialist commented that, observing the current day, there is an increase in cloudiness. He emphasized that the Southwest and Southeast regions usually receive the first rains, showing a tendency towards storms.
Furthermore, he pointed out that there is also a probability of new precipitation in the following week, even if the sun is the predominant weather condition.
The specific forecast for Goiânia indicates a maximum of 35°C and a minimum of 19°C, with 10.0 mm of rain expected. The Central Region expects a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 19°C, with 5.0 mm. In the Northwest Region, the maximum will be 38°C and the minimum 21°C, with 5.0 mm.
For the Northeast Region, the forecast is a maximum of 35°C and a minimum of 19°C, totaling 5.0 mm. The North Region should reach a maximum of 36°C and a minimum of 21°C, with 2.0 mm, while the West Region forecasts a maximum of 35°C and a minimum of 20°C, with 10.0 mm, or a maximum of 38°C and a minimum of 21°C, with 5.0 mm.
In the Federal District Surroundings, in Luziânia, the expected maximum is 34°C and the minimum is 19°C, with 8.0 mm. The Southeast Region presents a maximum of 34°C and a minimum of 19°C, with 10.0 mm, or a maximum of 34°C and a minimum of 18°C, with 15.0 mm.
