BYD introduced its second-generation electric hatchback Seagull in China on October 20. The model is available in five variants with prices ranging from 65,900 to 99,900 yuan.
The revised version of the car increased from four to five seating positions and changed the drive from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive. Additionally, more space was added to the cabin and the front storage compartment.
The new Seagull has a length of 4,205 mm and a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. The engine power has been increased to 95 kW, and the previous torsion beam suspension at the rear has been replaced with an independent multi-link design. The car is capable of covering distances of 320 km and 420 km according to the CLTC standard.
The more expensive trims are equipped with BYD's fast charging technology. The company claims that this technology allows the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes at compatible stations. Models with a higher level of equipment also feature DiPilot 300 driver assistance systems and lidar.
